The newest Sony Reader, the Reader Wi-Fi, now gives users the ability to borrow eBooks
from public libraries and schools; directly to your device. Let’s take a look at how
to use the Sony Reader Wi-Fi to browse, checkout, and download library eBooks. On your Sony
Reader Wi-Fi, access page 2 and select the ‘Public Library’ button. From the ‘Welcome’
page you can search for a library by name, state or zip code. Choose your library from
the list and then select your library’s Virtual Branch website. Once on the website,
you’ll be able to view eBooks in a range of popular titles and in a variety of subjects
from your local library. Find a title you are interested in and add it to your ‘Digital
Cart’. To check the title out, select ‘Proceed to Checkout’. Then enter your library card
number (without spaces) and select ‘Login’. After logging in, select ‘Confirm Checkout’.
Once your eBook has been checked out, select the ‘Download’ button to begin downloading
the eBook to your Sony Reader. A small symbol appears in the upper left corner of the device
to indicate the title is downloading. Swipe down on the symbol to view the progress. The
file will display that it has completed. Head back to the ‘Home’ screen by clicking
the ‘Home’ button on the front of the device. Now, choose the title and enjoy! All
eBooks checked out from the library automatically expire and return to the collection for you.
There are never any late fees. Don’t forget to head back to your Library or School’s
Virtual Branch website for more books to check out. In addition, there is a wide selection
of titles to enjoy in other familiar formats which are compatible with hundreds of other
devices.
