So, Olivia, tell me more about Cashtrail.
OK, well what Cashtrail does it's a fundraising tool that uses Google Earth to
raise money for organisations and then track those donations. So if you
take the example where somebody wants to donate to Darfur they actually
Google 'donate to Darfur' and they
use Google Earth to travel physically to Darfur on the globe and then they see
what projects and what organisations are working in Darfur, select a
project, see the costs in relation to that
project and donate to the project. We then
track that money and make sure it goes to the project and then we feedback
information directly to that donor on that specific project.
So they have wide range of choices of charities
as long as they've linked and published their information on Google Earth? Yes, that's basically it
and it's a visual tool
we've found that donors like to visually see where their money's going. They physically go to the
locations so they get an understanding of the type of location, whether it's
India, whether it's a youth project in San Francisco
and the idea is that
makes it more appealing for them to donate. Where we're really different I suppose
is the fact that we provide the feedback loop in the sense of providing
specific data on the project back to the individual donor so they can see the impact
of their donation and we do that
using, just using software tools. Well I hear you have a
financial background? I do yes, I'm a qualified accountant and I've worked
overseas since 1995, lived in about 14 countries
mainly in Africa. And I've done everything from mainly, you know, humanitarian
operations like Rwandan genocide through to the tsunami but I have
worked in developing countries as well. I worked for the World Bank. I've
lectured in Africa for two years and I've done everything from building
refugee camps to managing the money. What I began to realise is that we needed to
improve or help people in the field
to manage their money better and make it easier for them rather than making it more complicated,
so we started to develop specific
financial tools for that. Thank you very much, where can we find out more
about Cashtrail? Basically log on to Cashtrail.net.
Brilliant, Olivia, thank you very much. Thank you very much and take care.
