LAST HOPE
My name is Beverly Orr, and I'm president of Last Hope.
We started Last Hope in 1984, and we were not incorporated till 1985.
We have grown last year without a shelter,
we have placed 1533 animals.
Our Goal is to save cats and dogs, which we do a lot of.
They're wonderful animals, cats and dogs, they need companionship.
They're just wonderful animals; I don't know how to stress that enough.
We are all volunteers. Nobody in our group, even Bev Orr who founded Last Hope, gets paid.
We don't have a building so the animals live in our homes with us, we really get to know the animal.
Because the dogs are at homes and not just in kennels someplace,
we as foster are able to tell potential owners about the dog.
People ask "Isn't it hard to do?"
Not at all, yeah you do get somewhat attach
but they do end up going to where they belong.
We've foster about 70 dogs now,
some of my favorites are the old ones, people think
they're old, they're no fun, they are a lot of fun.
Don't be disappointed if someone tells you that the dog you're looking at isn't the right fit for you.
Because we try to match up the dogs in the right homes so that people don't home and have a lot issues to deal with.
We never put any of them down, which is really great, I love that about Last Hope.
The fosters are really great. They do their best with the dogs,
no matter what their problems are.
I've been work with last Hope for 2 years now, I just thoroughly enjoy it.
We have over 900 members and without them we would be nothing.
