Hello ladies and gentleman, and welcome to another edition of fishbat splash with your
host Gabby G. and Scottie D.
… Well, today is Monday, the day after superbowl, got a little wet brain, spending some time
on the internet, looking for some cool videos but all that I’m finding is lame pictures.
Well, Scottie, the more you look the more you explore the internet the more you’ll
find that stagnant, inanimate pictures just aren’t going to cut it anymore. These days
is all about gifs or animated pictures.
And you know that I love gifs.
Me too. Now gifs have been around for years but they’ve recently started to rise in
popularity. This is mostly due to the increased ability for sites to display and host them.
However, unless you’re extremely tech savvy, it’s really hard to create them yourself.
I don’t know about that. There might be something out there. Actually, twitter recently
introduced a new mobile app that allows users to create gifs by using the camera on their
iphone or their ipod touch.
Hmmm. Acquired by twitter last spring, vine lets users create and share moving videos
up to six seconds long. According to a statement on its blog, vine confines gifs to a six second
time limit to inspire creativity, similar to twitters 140 character limit restriction.
So, that means, if you want to create a gif of your wasted co-worker singing ‘I believe
in a thing called love’ on karaoke night, you better make sure that you pick the best
six seconds of the video to share; preferably the part where he sings in an alarmingly girlish
falsetto.
Now, vine can upload your gifs to twitter but unfortunately Facebook doesn’t allow
the ability to share them on its website.
No surprise, it’s just another battle in the twitter and Facebook war.
I guess, though its currently only available for iphone and ipod touch vine will be available
for other platforms soon. You can download the app for free in the app store.
Well, that’s all we have for today. If you would like more news on this story or additional
