[Kevin Booker] Ever since i was fourteen years old
i was labeled the skateboarder.
Growing up in military housing in Virginia
I was destined to be rough on the edges.
That was until I found skateboarding
Well, if found me.
I travelled up and down the coast with little money and at times
I had no knowledge of how I would get home
My father wasn't supportive of my aspiration to skate.
So I used my local skateboard as my outlet.
but, that's where I truly felt at home.
The fire to skate burned deep down inside of me.
This is up to the downfall of the company that made my dreams come true
i was devastated
and derailed from my path.
Fan's questioned my departure consistently
my close friends and family insisted that i keep my dream a live.
But, I knew I couldn't skate
not for the sake of other people
They mention that i inspired and or change their lives. having someone believe in you
when you don't believe in yourself
bring a lot of pressure
i know now this is what i'm supposed to
what I was truly meant for.
no matter where it takes me
This is where my heart is.
i've learned a lot about myself, these past few years
When I felt like I could pick up my board again
and fall in love with it again, like the first time I started, I'd be ready.
my perspective on skateboarding is not so competitive, I'm in the driver seat, and I'm not doing it to please others.
I'm doing it because it feels right. I life you have to go through these ups and downs
These paths you were given.
it is said.
there's no place like home
that is me on my skateboard
when i step on the board, that is where I am most comfortable and free to be myself.
my name is kevin booker
skateboarding is where my home is.
