Hi! This is Elise McMahon for Expert Village.com and in this video series we are talking about
how to make your own dog food. If you would like to find out more about my services, you
can visit my website at canineheadstart.com. So in this short clip, we are going to be
talking about different sources of carbohydrates. We have discussed different sources of protein.
Now are we are going to be talking about carbohydrates that you can add to your dog’s diet. I have
got some examples here of what you can use and we are going to be showing in another
clip how to use them. Couple of different things here we have got; things are in the
potato family. Right here I have a sweet potato. You can use any kind of potato you want, a
good source of carbohydrate, healthy for your dog particularly sweet potatoes and yams.
Another source of carbohydrate is pasta. Got a package of pasta here; this looks fairly
fancy. It does not have to be anything fancy, but just an example. Pasta is a good nice
thing to add in to your dog’s food. Another source of carbohydrate is rice. I have got
some instant rice here. If you are in a hurry, certainly use instant rice. It is nice however
to use brown rice. There are a lot of wild rice’s that you can be using. They have
got a higher nutritional value to them and so it is nice to use them as well. Again if
you are in a hurry, go ahead and use the instant rice. Another source of carbohydrate can be
found in oats. So oats can be a good thing to put in your dog food. If you are making
cookies, oats is a great thing to use and any of these things can be mixed in with your
protein source when you are making your dog food and we will show you how to do that in
another clip.
