Hey guys, how's it going? It's Sam, here today with a cooking video
So a while ago TWICE did a video where they made kimchi and potato pancakes.
And it was actually during finals when they did it,
so I didn't watch it until recently.
But I finally did get chance to watch it and I just wanted to try making it myself.
So some might notice I'm wearing the What is Love? hoodie, like they did.
A little scared because it's all white and there's kimchi at play here
But we're gonna try. Going to roll up my sleeves
So, yeah, let's started.
First off, we have put on our apron and then wash our hands
Alright, now it's time to get started
So the first thing that they did was they cut up kimchi.
But I don't have like full kimchi's
I don't think there's any available anywhere nearby either.
So just got some pre-cut kimchi from a Korean market
So we're gonna use this. I think we'll use all of it.
Put it in this bowl and then uh, yeah
Alright, so we have quite a bit of kimchi now, in here
They're cut actually pretty decently sized. I think Jeongyeon had cut them a little too small in the stream like she said.
Well, these are about Momo size. So I think we're good
Next we're gonna put in the powder?
Batter? I don't know, flour?
So, you're supposed to add 2 cups and then 1 cup of water?
But since TWICE didn't measure, I'm not gonna measure either
Just going to eyeball it, hopefully I'm better at than they were
And then we add 1 cup of water. I have water here. Just going to estimate 1 cup
Think that's okay, now we're just going to mix it
Alright now this is almost done, we're gonna add a quarter of an onion
Okay now we put the onions into the batter
We'll mix it well
I think right now, we're going to start frying
Alright, now that we have the kimchi pancakes, we're going to do the potato ones.
We have, uh, two peeled potatoes here
Let's get started
Alright now we're going to strain
Now we're gonna add some of the frying powder to the potatoes.
And we'll add back this water which I think is mostly starch
We don't have to pour any of the water out like they did there's not that much water at all
So pour 1 cup, I'm gonna have to estimate, like usual
And we'll add the water back in
Plus the starch, and we'll mix
Looks about right, I can't be sure
I don't know the proportions either. So let's go ahead and fry them up and see what they turn out like
Ok, so these are the
pancakes that I made.
Actually made, uh, one other kimchi pancake, but I ate it while I was cooking these other ones.
But, yeah, they look pretty good
Let's go ahead and try them out.
Alright, here we go. We'll try the kimchi pancake first, actually turned out better than I expected
But yeah, it's a piece with kimchi
Here we go
Okay, kind of cold now, but still pretty good. Actually quite flavorful even without the salt
Now for the potato pancake we'll try, um...
This one's kind of fresh. I don't know if it's too hot though. Let's try one it's as fresh actually
Okay, so it's supposed to taste like potato. I didn't put any seasoning, like TWICE did
Taste alright
Definitely soy sauce. Basically tastes like potatoes, which is the goal. So overall turned out really well.
But yeah, um, this has been my
Try making TWICE's pancakes, potato and kimchi pancakes
They're actually really easy, even without measuring it. You know might be a little better if actually measured and had good measurements, but
it's pretty good as it is. But, yeah, um...
That's about it
Thanks for watching and I'll see you guys next time. Bye (Subs by Aeyeon Kim)
