What's up everybody, my name's Andy Capets And welcome to this new video!
Yes finally! It's been a while since the last one,
and let's say that... I was gonna say that there was a good reason,
but there isn't really, only that, when I give a date,
it isn't really true, since I said "2 videos a month"
but don't trust me, really, just don't, if I give you a date,
just don't believe me. Reason is that I had a lot of work and also
school is taking me a lot of time lately. Sometimes I just don't
want to do something else but to be in front of the PC or just
watch a movie on the laptop, which is located right there,
but like I said, I finally doing videos again simply because,
in a couple of weeks, well, in 1 or 2 weeks, AMD's going to
release the non-reference R9-290's, I really hope so 'cause
I really need a new graphics card, since I'm running with the
integrated graphics in my CPU, and it sucks, especially because
I just got BF4 and I can't play it correctly, well, I'm still
playing it, but at like, 60fps in low with the native resolution,
and let's say, it alright, but it still sucks. I want to play it
at 120fps on ultra :'(
With this aside, today I'm gonna be helping you on how to build a
PC for less than 950€, and this time it's going to be an M-ITX system,
which means, very small, maybe that big. And I gonna consider this as
a lanbox, which means that you will be able to use at home obvisously,
but also when you go at lan events, 'cause it's small, light and very
powerfull!
So let's jump in and have a look at the components!
I just want to add that all of the components I've choosen, are priced
accordingly to what I saw on Amazon (.fr), links are down in the description.
Also, this PC is not meant for everybody, it's obviously for gamers, but
also if you want to edit videos, photos, stuff like that, and the reason why
it is so expensive, I know there are more affordable options in the M-ITX
range, but today I wanted to do something really powerful to use it as a
Lanbox, but also as an every day computer. So if you a PC that's small, powerful
with whom you can run around in the street without looking silly, it's the one you need.
So today we're gonna mix it up a bit, I'm gonna start directly with the case.
Today I've chosen the Bitfenix Prodigy, simply because it's beautiful and classy,
the cable management is not that good, there are better options, but it's M-ITX,
so it's not gonna shine obviously, there is not a lot of room inside, but
it's gonna be enough for what you'll pay. It cost around 75€, it's very small,
very classy, and it does what you need it to, since it's an M-ITX case, not to
confuse it with M-ATX, and yeah, it's tiny. It has handles, so you can carry it
around for LANs. The I/O is composed of USB 3.0, headphone and microphone ports,
which is now standarised, thank god. So yeah, for 75€, you can't go wrong, there
is not really a better option, except if you want to the Bitfenix Phenom, it's like
an alleged version of this one but without the handles, so it's a bit more clean looking,
it's not bad, but the Prodigy is better IMO, it's so sexy in black, and I say once again,
75€, yup, that's REALLY cheap.
For the motherboard, I'm gonna be taking the Asus Z87I-Pro C2, it cost 160€ if I'm not
mistaking. It looks extremely good in my opinion, with the gold and black color
scheme, it's really nice. On this motherboard you're gonna find a daughterboard on
the back with different things that do that it's going to have better audio I
think. Also, there is a Wi-Fi receiver on the board, well, not on the daughterboard,
but on it there are things that make the internet port work a litlle better,
since M-ITX boards are so small some things need to be sacrificed. A good example
is that there is only one PCI-E port and two RAM slots on the board, which is...
Well, very limited, but you don't really have a choice at that size.
There are 6 sata connectors, which are all 6/Gbs I think.
On the rear I/O there ar 6 USB 3.0 ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, which I don't really
understand since when you have USB 3.0 you should just use this and not the USB 2.0
ports in my opinion. Then, there is one display port, one HDMI and DVI port, with all
the auxiliary audio ports and the 7.1 audio ports, obviously, the sound is not going to
be the best, but it's going to be enough. Performance wise, since it's an M-ITX board,
you can except it to be a little less good, but not that much at all, in comparison to
ATX boards, but you might loose 1 or 2 FPS in game versus a good ATX motherboard, so
there is no reason to be afraid. But if plan on
OC'ing with this card, you're gonna have the
same performances than any other motherboard, except if you have a crappy CPU that doesn't
do what you wan't it to do.. In that case it's different.
But like I said, for only 160€, it's a really interesting card, cheap, classy, and also
feature rich, it has everything you need.
For an M-ITX, it's almost too much.
As for the CPU, I'm gonna be taking once again, the I5-4670k, because it's very good,
it costs only 190€, which is very cheap, especially since the price dropped a lot lately.
This CPU is clocked at 3.4ghz, it also has a 3.8ghz clock when in turbo boost mode,
and also there is the ability to OC it very easily, at like 4.5ghz with very good temps.
At stock, the temps are already really good, but when you OC it, they're still going to
be very low, which is quite rare.
What else... Well, it's compatible with the motherboard...
And what else do you need ?
Once again, for the RAM I decided to go for the Kingston HyperX Beast, because it's really
good. Very good looking and can be OCed very easily, you can OC it at like 2400mhz just
by
clicking on the option in the bios and boom, it's done, no temps problems.
It's the 8Gb, 1600mhz CAS9 version, because more is a too much and 8gigs is plenty enough.
There are some games lately that require more than 8gigs of RAM so that the game runs very
smoothly, looking at you, the box that's looking right at me, M. BF4... You need at least 8gigs
of RAM to run this game PERFECTLY... That's just stupid.
But well, if you have 8gigs, good for you.
For the storage, I chosen the Seagate Barracuda 1Tb version, because it's very good and runs
at 7200RPM. It costs around 55€ at the moment, which is insanely cheap.
It dropped from about 65/70€ to this, so just go, buy this one, it's really good.
Performance wise, you can expect something quite fast, not as fast as an SSD, but in
this
system, I won't be putting an SSD because the price would just be to high, and seriously,
an SSD is good, but just having an SSD would be not enough, so get the HDD right of the
bat
and buy and SSD later on. I find that having something with a lot of storage place but
slower, is better than having something a faster and with zero storage capability, but
that's
just my opinion, and it's still very fast, if not the fastest, and for this amount of
money, what else could you want ?
For the GPU, I decided to go for the MSI GTX 770, simply because it's very powerful,
it's the Twin Frozr Gaming edition.
This GPU looks ok, not really a fan of the red with the dragon stuff, but not bad.
It's cooler is as always with MSI's, very good, they always make great coolers,
because they are silent and also running at low temps.
It's clocked at 1070mhz and will run every game you will throw at it.
BF4 is one of the most demanding games lately, not the worst one, but one of them, who
will make your card cry on ultra at 60fps, and this card is gonna run at almost 60fps.
So for 270€, it's a great card, I almost forgot the I/O, you have what ever you need,
dual DVI, HDMI and Display Port are all here.
Finally, the PSU. I decided to go for the Corsair RM650 watt power supply.
It's 80+ Gold, fully modular, and yes, fully modular, and here come the price, 110€
Well, for the money there is not a lot of options that are this good, like I said, fully
modular, 80+ Gold with over 90% efficiency. I read
the TechPowerUp! review and they gave it a 9.5/10,
so it's really good. The looks, well it's a Corsair PSU, you love it or you hate it.
Let's say that I'm not really a fan it the square-ish type, thing, shape...
You math guys out there, tell me in the comment what shape it has, since I study litterature,
you can expect me to be bad at math and stuff like that so I don't remember how this shape
is called anymore... Well, I know it, but it's to test you guys, to see if YOU know
it... As I said, it's a very good PSU, 80+ Gold
certified. 650W for this system is plenty enough
since you can't add a second GPU, it might be even too much, 550W might be more suited,
but it might be short for me so I prefer having a bit more than having something bottlenecking
the system because it doesn't have enough power. Like every component of this system,
you won't have any problems and zero compromise.
Now that the components are chosen, we are going to see how much it costs.
The price is around 932€ with everything taken from Amazon.
For less than 950€, with this PC you'll be able to run absolutly everything, at 1080p,
every game are going to run on Ultra, in some case, like BF4 (and Crysis 3), High,
which are very good looking games. Pretty much all games are going to run at minimun
70, maximum 100fps.
And obviously if you want to change a component, go ahead, if you want to add a CPU Cooler
or an SSD, I'll leave you links in the description so that you can add them yourself,
because a CPU cooler would be welcome in this system, but in an M-ITX system it is not really
needed, since it's so small and the noise is not that deranging. So go ahead if you
want to add
or change stuff in the system, I will put links to components I find to be the best.
As of the RAM, if 8gigs is not enough, keep in mind that there are only two RAM slots
and that you won't be able to add more if you only take 8gigs and find it to be not
enough, if you wan't to take 16gigs, go ahead.
So yeah, I hope you enjoyed this video, if you did, make sure to give it a thumbs up,
leave a comment if you found this video to be helpful and if to tell me what you thought
about it. If you have more questions about this system and that the 500 characters are
not enough... wait... Oh right, we switched to this damn Google+ system... D:
So basically the number of characters are limitless now...
So if you have more questions, personal questions or whatever, you can send me a PM on
YouTube, or just post it on my Facebook page.
I'm also on Twitter, all the links are in the definition anyways.
So I hope you enjoyed this video, I'm Andy Capets,
And I'll catch you guys later!
