Well, welcome to The 700 Club. Interest rates are at historic lows, and they may be heading
even lower.
The Federal Reserve is planning to lower rates because of forecasts that the economy is going
to remain weak. Heather Sells has the story.
The recovery has weakened considerably, and downside risks have increased sharply.
In June, the International Monetary Fund said the US economy would grow 2.5 percent this
year and 2.7 percent next year. Now, it says the economy will grow just 1.5 percent this
year and 1.8 percent next year. Even with a slight improvement next year, economists
say it won't be enough to lower the unemployment rate. The IMF blames financial turmoil and
slow growth in both the US and Europe. Sharp stock market drops in the US have also hurt
consumer and business confidence. So what's the answer?
Strong policies are needed both to improve the outlook and to reduce the risks.
One remedy: the Federal Reserve is expected to give the US a shot in the arm with a plan
to push the yield on treasuries still lower. That would reduce the rates on mortgages and
other consumer and business loans. Already, US mortgage rates are at 60-year lows. The
average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage: 4.09 percent. That is the lowest rate since
1951. Heather Sells, CBN News.
You would expect with an interest rate that low that housing prices would be going up,
but we’re actually seeing the opposite. The demand keeps shrinking, and we haven't
washed through all the foreclosed properties. Until we do that, I don't see a turnaround.
Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN Newsroom. Lee.
Gordon, President Obama is still pushing the Palestinians to drop their bid for statehood
at the United Nations. Mr. Obama addresses the issue at the UN General Assembly today.
He’s also meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas. He wants both parties to resume direct peace talks. Meanwhile, some US officials
say they probably cannot stop the Palestinian statehood bid. President Abbas is expected
to deliver a formal letter requesting statehood to the United Nations on Friday.
An Iranian court finally clears the way for the release of two American hostages. It ordered
that Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal be freed each on $500,000 bail. The two men have been
in Iranian custody for two years. Bauer, Fattal, and a third American were arrested for spying
while they were hiking along the Iran-Iraq border. They deny those charges. With the
approval of the Iranian court, there is nothing else standing in their way of freedom.
Would you pay more than $16 for a muffin? The Justice Department did. A report from
the department's inspector general found that it spent lavishly on legal conferences, and
not just for muffins. At another conference, coffee was more than a dollar an ounce, and
a snack break cost $32 a person for Cracker Jacks, popcorn, and candy bars. The report
comes as a new Gallup study finds that Americans believe the federal government wastes 51 cents
out of every dollar it spends. Gordon.
Well, obviously, the inspector general has never tried to book a conference room at the
Willard in downtown DC. When it comes to high prices, the only thing that beats the concession
stand at the movie theatre is trying to get snacks at a conference in a major hotel. And
that is what’s going on with that one. Well, we've got a story for you about a man who
pinched his pennies. He wouldn't spend $16 for any kind of muffin. In fact, you could
call him a bit of a hoarder. But he still didn't have enough to retire until he took
some advice from his wife.
Rick Tandoc came to the United States from the Philippines with only $100 in his pocket.
Over the years, he worked hard to provide for his wife Jane and their three children,
and always held very tightly to the money he earned.
I was trying to save whatever I could. Why? Because I’m scared of the future.
The Tandocs lived modestly, but put money away for their kids’ college education.
They took out loans for major purchases like their home and cars. And as they approached
retirement, Rick worried about how he and Jane would pay off their debts on a fixed
income. Their debts had grown to over $100,000. Then for the first time, Jane heard about
tithing at church.
I’ve learned that what you keep, you lose, but what you give, you gain. I said to myself,
“I think this is the way out, giving,” because that’s what God said.
Rick didn’t see it that way.
I said to the Lord, “Lord you have to convict that woman, Lord, because I think she is wasting
our money. So I mean, you know how much I earn Lord, so I can’t afford to give this.”
But after praying about it, Rick decided to trust God and give tithing a try. The Tandocs
slowly worked their way up to giving 10 percent of their income.
After we started tithing, there was money unexpectedly coming in. I mean, insurance
money from way before telling us that, “Oh, we just found out that you overpaid, so here’s
your refund.” God not only gave me back the finances, but He gave me as well wisdom,
wisdom how to use the money, wisdom how to stretch the money, wisdom how to invest the
money.
Before we were giving, the money that we tried to save, it never grew, never grew. But after
that, I’m telling you, it’s just multiplying.
The Tandocs became 700 Club partners and increased their pledge several times.
They are like fertile ground. They are really doing the work of God, a hundred percent.
So my heart was drawn to that.
Soon Rick was promoted to a well-paying job as a postmaster.
God blessed me with a wonderful job. It’s because God said, “If you honor Me first,
everything will be blessed. I will bless all the rest.”
The Tandocs were able to send their three children to college and pay for both their
daughter’s weddings, all in cash. And after Rick retired, he and Jane worked diligently
to pay off all their debt.
Every time I look at my bank account right now, I chuckle. I chuckle at the fact that
it’s growing and growing and growing, because we faithfully gave God the 10 percent. I would
like to encourage everybody who are not yet givers and who are doubters, just try God.
The more you give, the more you receive. Trust God that He will do what He said, because
in my life, He did it.
Rick learned it. Just listen to the lesson if you are a doubter, because Rick was. He
had to be convinced by his wife to go forward. In fact, he was praying to God, “Please
convict her. She is wasting my money.” But what he was really doing, he wasn't walking
in the promises of God. Here it is. It’s from Matthew 6, “Don't worry about having
enough food or drink or clothing. Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and He
will give you all you need from day to day if,” and this is a conditional promise,
“if you live for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.” Now, how do
you know when you're making your Kingdom of God your primary concern? Well, where your
treasure is, is where your heart is. And Jesus says that very clearly. So where are you putting
your money? What are you investing in? What are you looking for? Are you investing that
in eternity? If you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern, then God will take care
of everything you need here on earth. Well, Frank and Dawn Matthews loved to spend money.
They only had one rule: if you want it, buy it. It’s a rule they lived by, until the
economy fell, and their business hit rock bottom.
Frank and Dawn Matthews own a successful sod and seeding company. They specialize in commercial
jobs. They bid on contracts and often get them. But the Matthews admit, when they first
started seeing green, they were foolish about spending the money.
Things that we wanted to do, we just went out and we’d do it.
We were buying cars. We were taking trips.
Eating out a lot.
Just spending money like it was endless.
But when the economy took a downturn, job contracts were scarce.
We were beginning to get behind, some bills two months behind, some bills three months
behind. The bills were coming in and stacking up, and the money wasn’t. I was paralyzed
with fear.
The Matthews used credit cards to get by. Soon they had $35,000 on plastic in addition
to business bills they couldn’t pay.
Life started becoming very difficult. I was not sleeping. I was in fear. I was stressed.
And I was really struggling with just getting out of bed every day, facing the job, facing
work. I’m facing my family. I just felt like a failure.
Frank prayed and asked God what was wrong. He says he felt God was telling him his priorities
were out of line.
I just knew that the Lord wanted me to repent. I just said, “God, I want to live for you.”
And I felt His Spirit, and God restored my life that day.
Frank prayed for guidance. At the same time, Dawn started watching The 700 Club.
We always respected Pat and his wisdom. And he would teach about tithing. And I knew that
was something that we should be doing and that we were out of God’s will.
They not only began tithing to CBN, they also cut up their credit cards.
When we cut those cards, it was a celebration. It just felt so good, a feeling that I had
not felt in a long time.
And the Matthews started to see a change.
Work starting picking up. Checks were coming in that we didn’t expect to come in. The
phone was ringing. People were calling me on jobs that we had quoted in the past, and
saying, “Hey, I’ve got this job for you. Come out and start immediately.” Our life
was starting to get exciting again.
Dawn and Frank continued to tithe and decided to give over and above their tithe. Six months
after they increased their giving to CBN, the Matthews landed their largest seeding
contract ever, nearly $1.5 million.
We were so excited. We jumped up and down, “Praise God! We got a chance at life again!”
And we were being obedient, and God was blessing that. And we just wanted to do more and more
and more.
The Matthews began paying off their cards and loans and were soon debt -free. This year
the Matthews expect to do $3 million in business. That’s double the revenue since they started
tithing in 2009.
If you’re struggling with life and your finances, or you just don’t see a way out,
I would just encourage you to become obedient to the Lord and start tithing. When we’re
obedient, He is going to bless us for that.
When we're obedient, He's going to bless us. When we're consistent, He is going to bless
us. This isn't something that you do for a brief period of time and then stop. It is
something you say, “I’m going to have a lifetime of doing this.” Here is the promise.
It’s from Proverbs chapter 11:24 . . . .
. . . . “It is possible to give away and become richer.” Just understand that. “It
is possible to give away and become richer. It is also possible to hold on too tightly
and lose everything. Yes, the liberal man shall be rich by watering others, he waters
himself.” When you help other people, when you contribute, when you do your part, well,
then God comes in and does His part. Now, if I can get a drum roll, I’ve got some
great news. Some existing CBN partners, just like the wonderful couple you just saw, like
giving so much, they want to challenge others to give. For the next 30 minutes they want
to challenge you $75,000.
Great.
Let’s pray. “Lord, we just ask for blessing for this. We ask for your anointing on it.
We just know that your word over the people that made it possible to issue this challenge
will be true. You will open windows in Heaven and pour out ideas and blessings so much that
they cannot contain them. And for those watching right now, we just ask that you would encourage
them, speak to them, comfort them, Lord. Let them know that they can trust in you. We ask
it all in Jesus' name. Amen.”
You heard it, a 75,000 dollar challenge. We've got 30 minutes to make it. We need to hear
from you. So go to the phone and call us: 1-800-759-0700. Or you can log on to CBN.com.
When you give on the Internet and give monthly on the Internet, you automatically sign up
for Pledge Express. It is electronic monthly giving. The bank does all of the work. There
are no checks to write, nothing to mail in. We save so much on the processing, we can
send as our gift back to you Power for Life monthly teaching CDs. So if you want that,
ask for Pledge Express when you call or you can log on to CBN.com. Well, let’s check
in with Wendy at the phones.
Thanks, Gordon. Well, I've been in the news business a long time, and I’ve covered a
lot of natural disasters. In fact, I was in New Orleans when Katrina came through. But
I can’t remember a year like 2011, and maybe you can’t either, where we have seen so
many catastrophic disasters. We even had an earthquake right here in Virginia Beach, which
is very unusual. Well, it makes you wonder what’s going on. Well, Jesus said He is
coming back. That’s the good news. But He says nobody will know the day or the hour.
But He did say as His people, we should be able to recognize the signs of the time, the
season of His return. That’s why Gordon and Pat have put together this great new teaching
called Signs of the Times. How will it all end? Take a look.
We live in uncertain times. There are wars and rumors of wars, economic distress, unprecedented
natural disasters, and unimaginable famine. But were today’s headlines written thousands
of years ago? Are these the signs of the last days the biblical prophets foretold? And how
will it all end?
In Signs of the Times, the 700 Club brings you crucial information, along with important
teachings by Pat and Gordon Robertson that will prepare you for what lies ahead. You’ll
learn about events that point to the return of Jesus Christ, the rapture, and who will
be saved, the signs of the anti-Christ and the role of Israel in the last days.
I want you to understand what the Bible has to say about the End of the Age so that you
and your loved ones will be prepared for the days to come.
Signs of the Times. Available now.
If you're like me, you love to study what the Bible says about the end times. It is
so fascinating. It's all in here. It’s all from the Bible. Signs of the Times. How will
it all end? We want you to have this for you and your family, because you know what? We
don't need to live in fear. We need to live in faith, but we do need to be ready. This
is yours when you give us a call right now: 1-800-759-0700. Or you can log on to CBN.com.
It’s a great way to give if you're at work watching The 700 Club right now. We won't
tell anybody. So give us a call right now. It’s just 65 cents a day, $20 a month to
change the world. We are in the middle of a challenge right now. I believe it’s $75,000.
That means every dollar that you pledge right now will be matched dollar for dollar. So
we need you to go to your phones right now. Terry.
Well, we’re asking you to help us help people. And I want to show you if you're a 700 Club
member how your gifts are helping people around the world. In China, you helped save one little
girl's life with the surgery that her parents just couldn't afford.
Like most twins, Wen Jing and her brother Wen Ming have a lot in common. But they also
have their differences. Wen Ming is the more serious child, while Wen Jing has always been
more playful. Another big difference? Wen Ming has been healthy, while his sister has
always been sick.
We had to take Wen Jing to the doctor a lot for the flu, sometimes four or five times
a month. She was really skinny.
And as Wen Jing got older, the Dengs noticed their daughter's personality changing, too.
Before, she could always make her brother laugh, but all of a sudden she didn't want
to play anymore. She barely talked and hardly ever smiled.
Finally doctors diagnosed Wen Jing with a serious heart condition and said if she didn't
have surgery soon, she would die. Mr. and Mrs. Deng both worked 12-hour days at a brick
factory. Their combined income is just $350, not enough for surgery to save Wen Jing’s
life.
I called one organization for help, but they refused to do anything because they said they
didn't want to waste their money on Wen Jing. They said her heart problem was too severe.
Then the Dengs heard about CBN.
The people at CBN were so nice. They seemed to really care about our daughter.
First, we arranged for a doctor and hospital to provide open-heart surgery. A surgeon repaired
the damaged valve in Wen Jing’s heart. And within months, she was the picture of health.
We really thank CBN for helping us when no one else would. We will never forget you.
My husband and I are so grateful. But you know who is really excited about this? Her
brother.
I love my sister, and I’m so glad that she is healthy now.
I can run and jump, and I am very happy. The surgery healed my heart.
And gave her hope and a future. You literally saved her life, and we thank you, 700 Club
members. Listen, for the rest of you, it is not too late to get on this kind of an exciting
adventure, touching and changing people's lives. You can do it by joining the 700 Club
right now. Our number is toll-free. It’s 1-800-759-0700. Let me show you the different
club levels that we have. Some of you might be joining us for the first time, and you’re
coming in as general members. That’s 65 cents a day, or $20 a month. Some of you might
already be 700 Club members. Can I suggest that you consider going up to 700 Club Gold?
That’s $40 a month. If you’re a Gold Club member, take an adventure in giving and go
up to the 1000 Club level. That’s gifts of $84 or more a month. We have 2500 Club
members who join us with $209 a month. And that’s our Founders Club at the bottom.
They give gifts of $417 a month, and then that totals out to $5,000 a year. We even
have people who join something called the Chairman’s Circle. They give gifts of $10,000
or more a year. Ask God what He would have you to do, and then do it with expectancy,
knowing that you are going to be blessing someone in a way that they simply could not
do on their own. God wants to use you. Say yes and help us meet this challenge at the
same time. It means we can touch even more people's lives. Gordon.
Well, in America, most parents warn their kids about picking up trash on the street.
But for one little girl in Guatemala, picking up trash was a way of life, and the city dump
was her home.
Her name is Maribel. But everyone here knows her as Kitty. She’s had to endure living
and working on this garbage dump for as long as she can remember. Each night after the
trash is dumped here, the little girl scurries to pick up as many plastic bottles as she
can for her grandma to recycle. Sometimes she also finds a scrap of food or a discarded
toy to play with.
I don’t like to live here. When my tummy hurts, I pick up food at the dump and eat
it.
This is Kitty’s grandmother. She told us how Kitty came to live with her.
Kitty’s dad is in prison, and her mother abandoned her. That’s why she lives with
me. It is pretty hopeless for us.
Then we saw where Kitty and her grandmother live, right here in the middle of the dumpsite.
Grandma is especially concerned about the rats.
I am afraid that the rats bite Kitty or one of the other kids who live here.
So CBN decided to help Kitty and her grandmother. First, we built them a new house far from
the sights and smells and the rats on the dump. It was an exciting day when Kitty and
her grandma got to move in.
It’s so good to have this new house.
Next, because CBN moved them far from the dump, we knew that Grandma now had no way
to make money to support them. So we set up a small clothing business for her right in
the marketplace near the new home. Already, Grandma’s income is better than she ever
made working at the dump.
I’m making good money with my new business.
Then we were able to help Kitty to attend this school run by Christians. Here she receives
a good education and hot, nutritious meals during the day, thanks in part to a new kitchen
provided by CBN.
I like to study here. I want to be a doctor when I grow up, so I can help others.
Finally, during a summer Bible outreach for all the kids at the dump, which was sponsored
by CBN, Kitty prayed and asked Jesus to come and live in her heart.
I’m so thankful for Kitty’s school, for the house, and the new business. But mostly,
I am grateful we don’t live at the garbage dump anymore. Thank you, Operation Blessing.
And thank you if you're a member of the 700 Club. You’re part of that. You’re part
of giving more than a hand out. We're giving hands up. We're giving people hope and a future.
And if you want to be a part of it, all you have to do is join the 700 Club. How much
is that? Well, it’s just $20 a month. That’s only 65 cents a day. And you join with tens
of thousands of other people that want to make a difference in the world today. If that's
you, if you want to help people, call us: 1-800-759-0700. And just say, “Yes, I want
to join. I want to join in with everything you're doing.” When you call, we've got
something special for you. I want you to have this. It's called Signs of the Times. It is
a DVD teaching on are we really living in the last days? What are the signs of the times?
And is literally what we're seeing in the news headlines today, was it written by Jewish
prophets over 2,000 years ago? If you want to understand where we are and what’s going
on in the world, from a biblical perspective, I want you to have this. And it’s yours
when you join the 700 Club. So call us right now: 1-800-759-0700. Let's go over to Kristi.
I'm laughing, Gordon, because you just took the words out of my mouth. So everything that
Gordon said, I just said the same thing. So here it is, Signs of the Times. It’s our
gift to you, so here is a clip.
In the last hundred years, technology has advanced further than in all the previous
centuries combined. So what’s behind the global increase in knowledge? Some say it’s
because today’s children have better nutrition, education, and medical care. Others say the
Internet and videogames are training kids to be better problem solvers. No matter what
the reasons are, we’re seeing the fulfillment of what Daniel prophesied more than 2,500
years ago.
Signs of the Times. Available now.
So there you have it. This is our gift to you called Signs of the Times. How Will It
All End? I was thinking about this. I know that life can be scary right now when you
watch the news. And so this really gives insight into biblical prophecy and really what the
Bible says about the end times. But you know what else it does? It kind of puts a fire
under each of us as Christians, to say, “This is the time now that we need to knock on our
neighbor's door and say, ‘Do you know the love and power of Jesus Christ?’” That’s
what this is all about. So listen, the time is ticking. People need to know the love of
Jesus and this is how to do it. So this is our gift to you, Signs of the Times. It's
yours when you become a 700 Club partner, 65 cents a day, $20 a month. You'll get this
in your hands. Don’t forget, maybe you’re already a 700 Club partner, and you want to
take it to the next level, 700 Club Gold. We're going to give you three of these. You
take one, you give it to two of the neighbors of the doors that you knocked on. So don’t
forget, we’re also in the middle of a challenge. We've got 17 minutes on this 75,000 dollar
challenge. So when you call, that dollar is doubled. So what do we need you to do? Call:
1-800-759-0700. Gordon.
Well, over the past three years, the recession has left many businesses struggling to survive.
But in spite of the tough economy, I’m going to show you one family business that is thriving,
thanks to a principle they learned from their father.
Brothers Oscar and Tommy Miskelly own and operate the largest furniture company in the
southeast. As business owners, these brothers have had their share of financial challenges.
The biggest one began in 2008 when the housing market crashed. It was right after they had
borrowed money to build another store and a huge warehouse.
The portfolios go down 50 percent, and you really learn a lesson on that about what really
is important, and it is family and your faith. You just keep working. You just keep knocking
and keep asking. And I think God honors that.
Oscar and Tommy know that God also honors giving. It is something they learned from
their father.
I saw my dad write checks in church. And it really stuck out in my mind. I was like, “Wow,
Dad, you're going to give that much money? What are we going to live on?” And he said,
“This is the Lord’s money.”
So despite the economy, the Miskellys have continued to tithe to their church and give
to CBN.
While it was tough psychologically sometimes to do that, we did it based on faith. We don't
think there is any doubt but that CBN, the 700 Club is a great place to invest in terms
of how they handle resources, how they help people, how the principles that they teach
are immutable. Every dime I give to CBN, I feel so good about it. I love the 700 Club,
and it's a part of who I am.
Both Oscar and Tommy believe that as they continued to give, God will carry their families
and their business through this challenging economy.
I understand people's thought process, “I can't afford to give right now, but I can
give later.” God's word doesn't make allowances for that. He didn't say “if times are good.”
He said, “Be a cheerful giver.”
And just test the Lord and see if His word is not true. I can only tell you what has
happened in my life. If you’ll give, God will bless you financially and in terms of
things that money can't buy, which is even greater.
God will bless you. He will bless you abundantly. Here it is from 2 Corinthians . . . .
. . . . “For God loves the person who gives cheerfully, and God will generously provide
all you need.” These aren't my words. These are the words of the Bible, and you can trust
in Him. When you trust Him with your finances, you walk into the miraculous of how He is
able to sustain businesses, even in the middle of a recession. If you want to get on the
plus side of giving, just give us a call: 1-800-759-0700. And just say, “Yes, I want
to join the 700 Club.” How much is that? Well, it’s only $20 a month, 65 cents a
day. Some of you say, “I can give more. I can give at 700 Club Gold.” That's $40
a month. There’s the 1000 Club. That’s $1,000 a year, and that equals $84 a month.
2500 Club, $2,500 a year. Founder, $5,000 a year. And then Chairmen's Circle, $10,000
or more a year. At whatever level God is speaking to you to give, now is the time to do it.
We're in the middle of a 75,000 dollar challenge. If we can get the red number up, we've got
a ways to go, $43,000 left. And we're going to take it way down, because from Chicago,
Illinois, Chairmen's Circle, $10,000. That takes us down to 33 with just 13 minutes to
go. Give us a call: 1-800-759-0700. Terry.
When Jason got sick, his parents wanted the best medical care they could get for him.
The problem was, they couldn't even afford the trip to the doctor's office.
Little Jason from El Salvador had gotten very sick with bronchitis. His parents were desperate
to help him, but they couldn't even afford a bus ride to take him to a clinic in the
city.
My heart breaks when I see my kids get sick and I can't buy them medicine or take them
to take them to a doctor. I thought my son would die. He had a high temperature, but
I had nothing to give him.
Nelson works on a farm and Anna does laundry. Together they make only enough to buy food,
but not enough for medical emergencies.
There are good and bad days. Sometimes I make money, and I go straight to the market to
get milk, sugar, and flour.
But to buy food for the next day, Anna knew she had to keep working. So they asked Jason’s
aunt to watch him. That very day Operation Blessing brought a medical team to town, and
Jason’s aunt took the boy for treatment. The doctor gave Jason a strong antibiotic,
and when Anna returned, she was stunned by what she found.
When I left him, he was so sick. Then I returned and found him healthy.
Within two days, Jason had completely recovered from the infection in his lungs. To help Anna
and her family bring in a little extra money for emergencies, Operation Blessing bought
them a new food cart. Business has been good.
I want to thank Operation Blessing for everything you have given us. We have a better life for
our family.
There are no medicine cabinets in the homes of people in most countries around the world.
And many of them, as we told you, as Jason’s family faced, they can't even get to where
the doctor is. You allow us the privilege and the opportunity of going right into the
midst of their need and being there for them. It can't happen without you, so we really
need you to participate with us. We're in the middle of a $75,000 challenge right now.
Here is the great thing about giving right now: every dollar that you give will be matched
dollar for dollar. So when you go to your phone and call and say, “I want to join
the 700 Club,” right now, your gift is virtually doubled. So we thank you for that. Go to the
phone and call. It’s 1-800-759-0700. We've been telling you about the different club
levels you can join. Well, when you call, no matter what level you join, would you consider
doing it through something we call Pledge Express? It is electronic monthly giving.
It means your bank does all the work. You don’t have any of the hassle. But it saves
us some processing costs, and so we can put even more of your gift right into the lives
of families, like Jason’s family. So call now. Say, “I want to join the 700 Club.
I want to be a part of what you’re doing, and I want to do it using Pledge Express.”
We'll be sending you monthly teachings as our way of saying thank you for caring about
the needs of others. Call now. You can also give by logging on to CBN.com. Gordon.
Well, all over the world, CBN is helping people in desperate need of medical care. In southern
China, one young boy would have been crippled for life without help from people like you.
It started out like any other day for 11-year-old Cai Fu of China. He had been working on the
farm with his mom, and later was helping her to prepare dinner. A pot of boiling water
fell off the stove and scalded Cai Fu's legs.
My legs hurt so much. It was very painful.
Cai Fu's parents felt helpless. They had no money for a doctor, so applied a homemade
ointment on the burns. Ten days later, Cai Fu’s legs became badly infected. That was
the day we came for a visit to the village. This is Timothy from our CBN Hong Kong office.
I was shocked when I saw how bad the burns were. The infection had spread all over his
legs. We immediately brought him to the hospital for treatment.
At the hospital, we learned how serious Cai Fu's condition was, and how we had brought
him just in time.
The doctor said if we waited a little longer to bring Cai Fu to them, he would have lost
both his legs.
CBN provided for Cai Fu's hospital expenses, including the IV antibiotics to fight the
infection. Two weeks later, Cai Fu's legs were healed. And for the first time in more
than a month, he was able to wear pants again, a new pair given as a gift from CBN.
I am so happy now. I can walk to school, I can help my parents with the chores, and I
can play basketball again. Thank you.
Just in time. We were there just in time. Imagine if we hadn't been there what would
have happened to that little boy. But we don't have to imagine that, because we were there,
and we were there thanks to gifts from people like you that made it possible for a medical
team to go to his village. If you want to be a part of everything we're doing, call
us: 1-800-759-0700. It is through faithful giving that we're able to have the infrastructure
in places, in remote areas like remote villages in China, where we can provide that kind of
medical care. If you want to be a part of it, call us and say, “Yes, I want to join
the 700 Club.” How much is it? It’s just $20 a month, 65 cents a day, and you join
with tens of thousands of people that want to make a difference in the world today. Some
of you say you can join at a higher level. There’s 700 Club Gold. That’s $40 a month.
Then there’s 1000 Club, which is $1,000 a year, and that breaks down to $84 a month.
At whatever level God is speaking to you, now is the time to call us: 1-800-759-0700.
Now, we need to stop the clock, because some existing CBN partners say 75,000 on a challenge
is not enough to get everything done. So they want to double it. They want to take it to
$150,000, and give it to the end of the hour. Let's pray. “Lord, we just ask for blessing
for the partners who made it possible to double this challenge. And, Lord, I just ask for
double blessing for them. And for those watching, making decisions, just speak to them, encourage
them, comfort them, for we ask it in Jesus' name. Amen.” You heard it, a 150,000 dollar
challenge. And we've got just 21 minutes and 21 seconds to go. If we can get the red number
up, we'll show you how far we've got to go on this. We've got 78,000 to go. The clock
is ticking. We need to hear from you, so call us: 1-800-759-0700. Let's go to Wendy at the
phones.
Thank you so much, Gordon. And when you call right now, we have a dynamic gift for you.
It is called Signs of the Times. How Will It All End? When you become a member of the
700 Club, you become the hands and the feet and the arms of Jesus to a hurting world.
Now, if you haven’t become a member, I want to encourage you today, let this be the day.
Maybe you've been watching all week and seeing these amazing stories. Well, we don't do that
alone. One person really can make a difference, so I want to encourage you that your 65 cents,
you $20 a month, really can change the world. And when you call, Signs of the Times. How
Will It All End? is going to be yours. Here’s a look.
The Bible itself is a book of prophesy, and the question that we ask is, “What’s going
on in the world? What’s significance does it have in my life? And when will it all be
over? When will the world end? You know, the disciples of Jesus came to Him and said the
same thing: “When will it end?” They said, “What are the signs of your coming, and
of the End of the Age? They asked that 2000 years ago. People are still asking it. What
does the Bible say about when it will end?
Available now.
I just love to study what the Bible says about the end times. And there are a lot of clues
in there. And God says, “Don't fear, but be ready.” Signs of the Times. How Will
It All End? This is our gift to you when you call right now and join the 700 Club: 1-800-759-0700.
Or you can log on to CBN.com. Now, when you join at the Gold level, which is just $40
month, we're going to give you Signs of the Times and two more, for a total of three,
so you can share with your family and friends. Now, if you join at the 1000 Club level, which
is just $84 a month, we're going to give you five, because we believe so strongly that
this needs to get in your hands and also people that you love, people that you've been praying
for. We want you to have Signs of the Times. How Will It All End? We're in the middle of
a 150,000 dollar challenge right now, so we need you to go to your phones right now. Gordon.
Well, people are out of work in America today, but one LA truck driver has no problem finding
a job, and you’re about to see why.
Ron Asseltyne puts in long hours pouring concrete in southern California. But he doesn’t mind.
He’s happy to be employed. But he always finds time to watch one of his favorite shows,
The 700 Club.
I love it. I trust it. I trust CBN’s perspective and outlook.
When he first found the program, however, he didn’t believe in the lesson on tithing,
but he eventually changed his mind.
As the years went on, I was like, “No, the Lord needs that money. How are they going
to fund their projects? They don’t get money from the government.”
Ron pledge $20 a month. That was a stretch, because he had lost his job and was relying
on unemployment and odd jobs to live. But he gave anyway. It wasn’t long before Ron
landed not one trucking job but two.
I just kept getting work, work, work, work. And then I’m noticing everybody else is
not working, but I am. I attribute it to the tithing. God said, “Test Me, and see if
I won’t open up the windows of Heaven.”
And Ron loves to see his money at work around the world through Operation Blessing.
Yes, it brings tears to your eyes. It’s a great thing. They do many great things for
people. And it’s a small amount of money to give every month.
And Ron has been faithful to tithe each month, no matter what.
My tithe is going out before my rent. You really start wanting to give that money.
And for those wondering if the principle will work for them, Ron has this to say:
That is what God requires. It’s in the Bible. Because when you obey His Word, you get His
blessings.
When you obey, you get His blessing. It’s in the faithfulness of tithing that the blessings
come. If you want to get on the plus side of giving, give us a call: 1-800-759-0700.
Just say, “Yes, I want to be a part of all you're doing around the world. I want to be
a part of CBN International, which is preaching the Gospel around the world. I want to be
part of Operation Blessing, which is helping people in time in need. I want to be a part
of Orphan’s Promise, which is helping orphans and widows around the world. I want to be
part of everything CBN is doing.” And you can do it by just joining the 700 Club. How
much is it? It’s just $20 a month, 65 cents a day. So call right now or you can log on
to CBN.com. Terry.
Well, in Senegal, the unemployment rate is 48 percent. So for people with disabilities,
it is even more difficult to earn a living. That is why Orphan’s Promise is working
to make sure that deaf children in Senegal have a good education and bright future. Take
a look.
Miriama is 10 years old and has many dreams for the future. But a only a year ago, she
had no hope at all. Miriama was born deaf. Her mother couldn't take care of here and
left Miriama with her grandmother.
Miriama always cried when other children went to school and she had to stay home. I paid
a lot of money for her to attend a hearing school, but she didn't learn anything there.
It wasn’t easy in the regular school. I just copied what others did, not understanding
anything. That made me very sad.
Then her grandmother heard about a school for the deaf supported by Orphan’s Promise.
She enrolled her immediately. Here, Miriama learned how to read and write and how to sign.
She has a lot of friends at the deaf school and even showed off some of her dance moves
when we visited. Miriama has only been at this school for a year, but she is excelling
beautifully. In fact, this is the only school for the deaf in all of Senegal. Since she
has come here, she is getting a great education and she is learning communication skills that
will really change her life forever. Miriama's teacher says she can't believe how far she
has come in such a short time.
Miriama is a very good girl. She loves to listen and learn all she can, and I know that
she will be very successful in life.
Mother: Miriama is very happy in her new school. She is a good girl and studies hard.
Because of this school and the support of Orphan’s Promise, Miriama can grow up with
skills she never knew she had, and she can hold on to a great dream.
I want to enroll in a beauty pageant when I grow up, and become Miss Senegal. I really
love my school here. Thank you Orphan’s Promise for all of your help.
She is beautiful, isn't she? It is an amazing thing to see children who are so thrilled
to be in school, because in that culture, just because of her disability, she has no
opportunity for education. You have changed her life and opened the doors to her future,
and we say thank you. Gordon.
Well, in Indonesia, CBN produces a program called Solusi. It’s the Indonesian version
of The 700 Club, and the show one woman was watching when she experienced a miracle.
For weeks, Melly had been experiencing pain and swelling in her right hand and wrist.
My hand would just throb. I couldn’t do laundry or scrub pans. I cried every night.
Melly scraped together the money to see a doctor. He diagnosed the condition as a form
of arthritis and gave her some medicine, but the pills didn’t work.
The pain would go away for maybe five minutes. Then it came back worse than before.
Melly went to the temple to pray.
I was a Buddhist. I bowed down asking Buddha for healing. I burned incense. I told him,
“My hand hurts so bad.”
After two years suffering with the condition, Melly’s husband told her about a Christian
TV program he’d seen called Solusi, the Indonesian version of The 700 Club. Melly
called the CBN prayer line, and asked for help.
I thought to myself, if my hand could be healed, I wanted to follow Jesus.
That’s when the miracle happened.
A couple days later, I said to my husband, “My hand is healed. My hand was healed by
God.” My husband said, “Whoa, we need to start praying to Jesus.”
The couple started watching Solusi together, and soon they prayed with the host to receive
Jesus as Savior. When Melly when back to the doctor, he was stunned by what he saw and
heard.
He asked me if I had gone to another doctor. I said, “No. It’s because of Jesus, through
the television.”
Today, Melly is pain free and joyful in her new faith in Christ.
I watched Solusi, and my hand is healed. And I am following Jesus now. God used that program
to touch my life.
“God used a program to touch my life.” We're making it happen. We're making it happen
in their own language. We're preaching the Gospel in Bahasa Indonesian. In terms of population,
it is the largest Muslim country in the world, and we're seeing lives change because we're
able to broadcast the Gospel to them. We're seeing lives change in India, in the Philippines,
in Hong Kong, throughout Africa, throughout Latin America, all made possible because people
like you are faithful in giving, and say, “Yes, I’m going to give every month. I
want to be a part of everything they're doing.” We're asking you to join the 700 Club. We're
asking you to join with CBN International to preach the Gospel around the world. We’re
asking you to join with Operation Blessing to help people. We're asking you to join with
Orphans' Promise. We're asking you to join with everything we do. All you have to do
is pick up the phone and call a toll free number: 1-800-759-0700. And just say, “Yes,
I want to be a part of it.” How much is it? It’s just $20 a month, 65 cents a day.
And you join with tens of thousands of people that want to see the Gospel reach the world
in our generation. Let's go over to Kristi at the phones.
Thank you, Gordon. So when you become a 700 Club partner, you know you're a gift to someone
around the world. Well, listen, we want to give you a gift. It is called “The Signs
of the Times.” How will it all end? And here is Gordon to talk about it. Take a look.
In the 700 Club’s Signs of the Times, you’ll learn about events that point to the return
of Jesus Christ, the rapture, and who will be saved, how increasing knowledge and advanced
technologies were predicted in Scripture, the signs of the anti-Christ and the roll
of Israel in the last days. Get Pat and Gordon Robertson’s Signs of the Times.
May you live in the joyful expectation that Jesus, our Lord, is coming again.
Signs of the Times. Available now.
You know what, He is coming again. I think the bottom line is we all need some insight
as to what the Lord has to say, what the Bible has to say about what is going on in the world
today. And really, that is what sparked both Gordon and Pat to put this together. Signs
of the Times. Now, check this out. This is where it gets really fun. Now you know that
when you become a 700 Club partner, this is our gift to you. But did you know that if
you're already a 700 Club partner and you change it to 700 Club Gold, we're going to
give you three? How cool is that? You take one, we give two away. Now I have something
better. For $84 a month, that’s a 1000 Club member, we don’t give you two or three or
four. Come on, we're giving you five. Yes, I said it, five. You take one, you give four
away, because this is the time to knock on your neighbor's door. You know that neighbor
that has been getting on your nerves that you need to pray for, that you’ve kind of
been praying for. This is the time to knock on the door and say, “Jesus loves you. Here
you go. I’ve got a gift for you.” All right, so call: 1-800-759-0700. We've got
nine minutes left on this challenge, so we need you to call. We've got 150,000 left on
the challenge, so we need you. All right, Terry.
Thanks, Kristi. Do you know more than 30 percent of the people in Peru live below the poverty
line? Well, recently we met a single mom named Ericka who was supporting her family on a
dollar a day.
Ericka Quispee’s hands move with lightning speed as she assembles tiny cardboard tabs
and string. If she can put together 1,000 of these tiny price tags in one day, she’ll
earn a dollar. This job, done on her bed at home, together with other small cleaning and
laundry jobs, provides Ericka with enough money to get by. But buying food wasn’t
her greatest need. She’s been living in this broken down shack with her two children
for the past year since her husband abandoned her.
My house was so small. I don’t have a kitchen. The bed took up half of the house.
And with the little bit of money she has saved, she makes temporary repairs to her home.
I had to say, “This week I’m going to buy the plastic.” Sometimes I wouldn’t
give the children a glass of milk or get diapers, so I could afford the plastic. It was very
sad not to give my sons a better place to live.
One morning, Ericka was outside doing laundry when Operation Blessing came to give her some
good news. Because she had one of the worst houses in the entire community, we offered
to build her another one.
I asked, “What? How much do I have to pay?” They just kept saying they will give me a
house.
A few days later, Operation Blessing arrived with building materials and volunteers; and
in a single day, they were able to build this new home for Ericka and her children.
It was the most exciting day of my life. That night we slept, and it was so warm, and no
cold air got in. The next day it rained, and we did not get wet. No more. It is thrilling.
But we knew Ericka needed something more to increase her income as a single mom; so we
gave her this cart where she can cook food to sell to her neighbors right in front of
her home. Tears of joy fell from her eyes as she realized what the cart would mean to
her children.
Thank you. You have given me something that will change my life.
Then, as our day with Ericka ended, we had a chance to introduce her to the Gospel, and
she prayed to become a Christian.
Things will be better for me and my sons. I’m very excited. Thank you.
A single mom alone. Boy, you can understand why she would have a hard time fighting off
a sense of real hopelessness and desperation. But today she is thrilled, in a new home,
she has got a thriving business. She has hope. She can provide for her children. And it is
people like you who made that possible. Please call right now. Help us to reach out to people
like Ericka who are struggling and in desperate situations. They need someone to come alongside
and say, “Let me help you.” Our number is toll-free. Call 1-800-759-0700. Say, “I
want to join the 700 Club.” You’ll be joining thousands of us who are out to change
our world in the name of Jesus Christ. When you call, would you consider using Pledge
Express? Your bank does all the work. No hassle to you, but it saves us some processing costs,
so that even more of your gift can go directly into helping folks like Ericka. So call now.
Use Pledge Express. You will have the satisfaction of knowing you are touching and changing someone's
life. Gordon.
Well, more Americans than ever are struggling to put food on the table. That's why Operation
Blessing is there, helping thousands of people feed their families.
Brian French is a diesel technician, but since the decline in the economy, business has been
slow. The rising cost of living has made things even tougher. His wife Cathy explains.
There’s only enough to pay all the bills, your electric and water and all that kind
of stuff. Well, you can’t go without any of that. But then there’s nothing for food.
Cathy wanted to get back into the work force, but child care cost more than a job would
bring in. They didn’t know how they were going to feed their family of six. Then Cathy
heard about Big Reach Center of Hope, a local food bank supported by Operation Blessing.
Big Reach director Scott Lewis says the past few years have been difficult for many families
in northeast Ohio.
People just can’t make it. They can’t do it. And they can’t afford to go somewhere
else where there is more work. I would say poverty has just increased in all areas, probably
about 30-40 percent.
With that kind of increase of people in need, Operation Blessing’s help is more important
than ever before.
Today, with our distribution going on, we’re helping a lot more families. We couldn’t
do it without Operation Blessing.
Another thing that makes this program special is its volunteers, including Cathy French.
Anybody who has been affiliated with Operation Blessing as contributors to you guys and with
Big Reach, I just want to thank them for everything they’ve done for everybody, all their donations,
all their generosity. They have meant the world to us.
“They’ve meant the world to us.” You can mean the world to somebody in need, and
that's right here in America. Operation Blessing is shipping 100 million pounds of food to
food centers across the country, feeding an estimated three million Americans every single
month. If you want to be a part of that, just join the 700 Club. Call us: 1-800-759-0700.
And just say, “Yes, I want to join.” How much is it? Just $20 a month, 65 cents a day.
Terry.
Well, your generosity and compassion are touching lives here at home and all around the globe.
In Thailand, hundreds of orphans have found refuge at a place called House of Hope. Recently,
the orphanage faced a severe drought, so the children all got together, and they prayed
for water.
Seven-year-old Ann and her friends enjoy a water fight at the end of a hot afternoon.
But just a few years ago, Ann didn't even know what it was like to be a child. Ann is
an orphan from a tribal group living on the Thai Burmese border. She was at the mercy
of a woman who was supposed to take care of her.
I was very scared of her. If I don't do what she wants, she would hit me. One day she took
me to the House of Hope and told me that she would come back for me, but she never did.
But while Ann was there with a growing number of other children, the house began to experience
a severe water shortage, which meant the children had to bathe in a filthy pond.
When the water would run out, the children would take their buckets and walk out into
the field. There we would bathe and wash our dirty clothes in the dirty canal.
Everyone started praying for water, and the staff contacted CBN Thailand. Operation Blessing
provided the $2,000 that was needed to install a new water system right on the property.
Now the staff, the children, and eight-year-old Ann have all the water they need, and it never
runs out.
I knew God was going to answer our prayers. Thank you for helping us.
Boy, talk about touching and changing the lives of children who are learning how much
God loves them, and it's happening because your hand is outstretched with the love of
Christ to them. Please call now. We're in the midst of 150,000 dollar challenge. And
we need to hear from you: 1-800-759-0700. You can also give by logging on to CBN.com.
Gordon.
I want to take you to Indonesia to meet a couple whose child was dying. Here’s a look
how people like you helped save his life.
Little Dion started getting sick when he was a baby, and his parents didn’t know why.
We took him to a doctor in the city two different times, but he couldn’t diagnose what was
wrong with him.
Our hearts were broken. We were sad to see our son growing weaker each day.
That’s when the family learned about a free Operation Blessing clinic. This is a photo
of Dion when they first examined him and diagnosed him with bronchitis and severe malnutrition.
The bones in Dion’s hands and legs were visible. He was so weak he couldn’t stand
up.
Operation Blessing immediately gave Dion an antibiotic and special formula to help him
gain weight. When we came for a follow up visit to his home, though, we discovered why
the family members had been sick. Filthy mattresses and no ventilation for a cooking fire inside
their home. So Operation Blessing bought the family new mattresses, cleaned and painted
the old house, and built a platform for an outdoor kitchen.
The love being given to us we cannot return. I thank you with all my heart.
Thank you if you're part of doing that. We had a tremendous 150,000 dollar challenge,
and the time has run out on it. Against that you gave 167. We leave you with these words
from Philippines 4 . . . .
. . . . “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches and glory by Christ
Jesus.” God bless you. We'll see you again.
While Mary feeds her two young daughters, she also helps feed needy families around
the world. While Bob hands a drink out to a co-worker, he helps give water to villages
with new wells. And while Carl builds a house for his son’s new puppy, he helps rebuild
homes in disaster areas.
These people all have something in common. They’re CBN partners who have joined Pledge
Express. I hope you’ll consider joining Pledge Express, too. It’s a way to simplify
your own life while speeding help to others, all at the same time. There are no checks
to remember or stamps to buy, and your gift goes to work faster, helping those who need
it most. So join us and change the world for someone today.
Wars, violence, natural disasters, economic chaos. Pat and Gordon Robertson teach on the
signs of the times.
I want you to understand what the Bible has to say about the End of the Age so that you
and your loved ones will be prepared for the days to come.
