World talk show queen Oprah
will be welcomed onto Orakei Marae by Ngati Whatua o Orakei.
America's most loved talk show host and billionaire,
Winfrey is here
for what is being billed as a "one-of-a-kind intimate evening."
Our reporter Tamati Rimene-Sproat is at Orakei Marae at this very moment.
Tamati, what time are they expecting Oprah to arrive?
Scotty, the powhiri for Oprah is expected to start at 4:25.
Hopefully she will get here soon
so I can interview her before it starts.
Earlier though, we interviewed one of her biggest fans.
She is one of many who by tomorrow,
will have had their dream finally come true.
She will be one of many going to see Oprah live.
It's Oprah's first trip Downunder to NZ,
and for some, it's a dream come true.
I really hope to hear something new,
and to meet her personally and take some photos with her.
Meet Rena-Deane Goldsmith from Ngati Porou.
She's been named 'the fan of fans'.
I'm her student.
When I watch her shows and hear about her guests,
I learn so much.
Her show paved the way for me to follow my own dreams.
Despite the high and lows, my dreams remain.
She is one of more than 10,000
who have tickets to see Oprah in Auckland tomorrow.
What I really want is for her to enjoy her visit in NZ.
Goldsmith has been collecting tapes and CDs of Oprah,
all in the hope of being able to meet her idol.
I've watched so many of her shows.
I've heard it all,
so now I just want to hear what she has to say,
her wise words.
Yesterday Oprah was spotted walking in Mt Eden,
but it will be Ngati Whatua's honour
to have Oprah visit and to formally welcome her.
Oprah will be entering the marae shortly.
She will be holding a press conference at 5pm.
Tune in again tomorrow everybody
when I will bring you more about what Oprah has to say.
Thank you, Tamati, for that report.
