We Are In The Privilege Era
For some people,the privilege(or liberty)
means a gorgeous adventure.
It is a mixed blessing.
If a Taiwanese calls himself a traveler
after going around
all the visa-free countries,
then a Chinese must be a great adventurer.
Anyway,the privilege is always in
the hands of a minority like truth.
For example,Barack Obama drinks
free coke in the White House.
Putin can take a taxi in Russia for free.
Besides,no one dares to touch the
Queen of Britain on diplomatic occasions.
Without advance notification,one will be
punished for shaking hands with the queen.
And according to the constitution of Japan,
the Emperor is not a citizen but 'god'.
In America,the civil servants
have rights to receive gifts in public.
And the maximum amount is 50 dollars per year.
What a 'tremendous' amount of money, isn't it?
Well,they can reimburse
the expenses for a business trip too.
But this rule is only useful for the
hard seat tickets and economy class tickets.
In Germany,officials have the
right of 'showing off' their wealth.
By law, they have to do the
daily commute in private car.
And the corruption problem
has no place to hide undoubtedly.
For example,an automaker sent a 'giant' toy
car to the president's son on his birthday.
The president borrowed money
from rich friend for buying a house,
which was reported later thoroughly.
In Japan,the prime minister has
no special subsidy or
settling-in allowance after retirement.
If he becomes sick,he can only get the
health insurance as civillian and
pay one-third of the hospitalization costs.
For example,Tomiichi Murayama
(the 81st prime minister) didn't have
enough money to do surgery after he retired.
Yep,he just got the full privilege
of 'going back to normal'.
In HK,the public consumption is so 'rampant'.
Donald Tsang had more than
forty business trips
(most are day trips) in three years.
And one trip cost
as much as 20,000 RMB on average.
Besides,all the 170,000 civil servants
in Hk are sharing 20 government cars now.
That means one in seven thousand officer
can use the special car.
So we have reason to believe
it is a huge 'extravagance and waste'.
What's more,Chen Shui-bian(a former
politician) still enjoys privilege
after he has been jailed in Taiwan.
Chen can have meals with his inmate separately
and do needlework only in the cell.
And in India,officials can
get lifelong free 'God Lotion'.
Of course,there are exceptions too.
In certain countries,ordinary
people enjoy privileges occasionally.
In the US,all vehicles must stop completely
six meters away from the school bus
when the students get on or off.
If not,the driver will be fined and
have the license revoked for one year.
In North Korea, one can enjoy free house,
arranged job and comfortable life with
Pyongyang household registration.
On the contrary, outsiders can't even go to
the toilet without a special travel permit.
Privilege provides people with self-confidence.
And there's a special online group-
QQ MSN Members.
They can use the
gorgeous emoticons in chatting.
Unlike the 'evil' capitalist society,
'pure' China has no
privilege or privileged class.
The only privilege we have is-
Special Price.
Big sale now.
No bargain no hesitation.
Have a look and you won't regret.
