Hello Lancers! I'm Laila Hajjali. It's Friday, March the 7th, and PCC One starts
now!
PCC One Campus news in a minute.
PCC One is brought to you by ALE, the Association of Latino Employees. ALE, empowering and engaging
Latino Employees at Pasadena City College.
Welcome to the Spring Break edition. [music -- It's Time to Party. Let's Party...]
[music -- It's Time to Party. Let's Party...]
It's almost time to party, but first, we've got some business to take care of.
Spring break is a great time to check out different universities that you'd like to
transfer to, but for those of you that are only spring breaking in the San Gabriel Valley,
UCLA will come to you. That's right, a UCLA peer mentor will be available to talk about
the wonderful world of Westwood from 12:30 to 4, in L-110. Don't worry, the only thing
that will be passed out, will be some informative transfer information. [hahaha].
It's time for the PCC Sportsbeat:
[beatboxing]
Our Men's and Women's Track and Field head over to Cal State LA today and tomorrow
to compete in the aptly named, Cal State LA Invitational. Here's footage of Lancer sprinter
Breanna Clark from last week's meet. Good luck with that, opponents. Our Men's and
Women's Swimming and Diving Teams head up north to compete twice this weekend: Today
they take on the Vikings of Diablo Valley College...really? Not the Diablos? And then
head to Marin County tomorrow to compete in the Mariner Invitation. Make some wake, Lancers.
Our Softballah's head to the beach to kick off their break in the Golden West Tournament
Today, tomorrow, and Sunday. Not to be out done, our baseball team will be road triping
up Avenida Cesar Chavez to take on the Huskies of East Los Angeles College. Our Lancer Badminton
team will be traveling up to Cupertino and San Bruno for a little birdie-watching trip
as they take De Anza college today in their season opener and compete in the Skyline individual
tournament tomorrow. Finally, we want to give a giant PCC One shout-out to both our beloved
Men's and Women's Basketball Teams. Both lost closely contested, heartbreaking defeats
in the playoff quarterfinals. You season were amazing and you did all us PCC Proud.
Thinking about a cultural staycation this week, well, don't miss Company. The curtain
falls on Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award winning play this weekend so, don't miss it. Company
is about a single man and his fear of commitment...show times are at 2 and 8 tomorrow, and the Sunday
finale is at 2. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students, staff, and
seniors. You can purchase them at the Center for the Arts box office.
Now, here's a special message from someone we should all know and love...
Hi. I'm Mat Camara. I'm sorry if you're having trouble seeing me because of the blinding
light from my Risser Award. If you have anybody, a facilities or office worker,
a division dean, or a non-teaching counselor, that continually demonstrates outstanding
service and contributions to the college, you should nominate them for a Risser Award.
You can pick up an application in C-241 or email aspcc.ilee@gmail.com. Hurry, the nomination
deadline is March the 26th.
That's all the news that's fit to stream. If you have any news items or announcements
that you would like shared, please submit your request to lancerlens@pasadena.edu.
You can follow us on Twitter @pcclancerlens. I'm Laila Hajjali have a fun and safe Spring
Break and remember to set you clocks ahead one hour this weekend, because you don't
want to be late for class on the 17th.
