Alright, let's take a moment and actually put a reel onto a rod. It's, for some of you,
it's a pretty simple task, but if you've never done it before, you might, might learn a little
something here. First of all, the rod has what is known as a reel seat. Some of them
are made of chrome brass, some of them are made of graphite. This happens to be a graphite,
non-corrosive type of material which is what you want particularly for salt water use.
The reel itself has a base and it's made to accept the reel seat. So you basically take
the reel, you slide it in to the top section, and you actually just screw the bottom piece
in until it's firm. Now you don't want to go crazy here and put too much pressure on
here and actually break something, but when it is hand firm like this, that is all the
tightness you need. Now if you'll notice on this spinning reel, the spinning reel is mounted
on the bottom of the rod, as well as the guides are on the bottom of the rod. So when this
thing is casted, and you're fishing with it, you have a bend like this, your line is actually
pulling down on the outfit, and plus you don't have to balance it. So anyways, that's the
basics of putting the reel onto the rod.
