>>NARRATOR: My name is Dierdra and I'm thirty years old. I live in Denver, Colorado. I'm about to have a rhinoplasty slash septoplasty all because I dislike my nose. In Chicago I worked for a plastic surgeon for four years and while I was there I obviously came across many people who got rhinoplasties. I've always known I have a prominent nose and a big nose. But I never really thought about getting a nose job myself. I though it was kind of part of my character and I never thought it was that big. I guess I was pretty content with it. But it was just really recently in the past year or two that I thought my nose didn't really get bigger, but maybe my face has thinned out a little bit. I've gotten older and I feel that I've grown a much bigger complex about my nose. I've just become more unhappy about it and dissatisfied about my appearance because of it.
>>NICK: Dierdra?
>>DIERDA: Yes. Hi.
>>NICK: Hi. Nick Slenkovich. Nice to meet you. Thanks for coming. I had a chance to talk with Deb. She gave me a good overview. I suggest we have a discussion about what your concerns and goals are. Anything that you feel is important. Certainly then we can talk a lit more about it. Look at your pictures. Examining will be real helpful in coming up with some ideas or some recommendations.
>>NARRATOR: I'm very new to Denver, so I didn't know of any plastic surgeons in Denver. So I started going through the whole process of looking for surgeons and I was going online a lot. I came across his name and website online. I really just liked his website and that is what introduced me to him. I just scheduled a consultation based on his credentials, and everything I read about him on his website. His before and after pictures were really impressive to me. Then when I went in and met him, I really liked him. He spent so much time with me in my consultation and went over everything. It was so detailed and that everything he went over. I felt like I really didn't have to ask any question because he addressed them before I can even ask them. He was really precise about the procedure and everything I need to do. He knew my nose better than I did! He knew exactly what would be right for me. His suggestions were right on. I left there knowing right away. He was the first surgeon that I met with and I felt immediately comfortable with him. I was really excited. I just felt like he was it and I just knew. When you are choosing a plastic surgeon the comfort level is really important and really you're trusting so much in the doctor you choose. Every doctor I met with afterward, I didn't feel that instant connection and comfort level.
>>DIERDA: Here I am waiting to meet Lyndsay, the patient coordinator who is going to tell me how much I'm going to pay to get a nose job.
>>LYNDSAY: How did everything go?
>>DIERDA: Great.
>>LYNDSAY: Great. Come on in.
NARRATOR: Obviously, it is kind of a scary procedure because it does change the shape of your face and the look of your face. But it really can't get much worse for me, so surgery for me can only make it look better. I figure why be unhappy with something that is such a big part of my appearance when I could change it. Another thing about getting surgery is that I never really thought my husband would really be on board with it because he is pretty conservative about things like plastic surgery. But he is on board because he knows I have a complex about it for the last year or two. He thinks that whatever makes you happy and makes you feel better about yourself. I had my consultation three weeks ago, like the end of January. Today is February eighteenth and my surgery is on March ninth. So everything is moving pretty fast which is exactly how I wanted it to be.
