Hello and welcome to Just 4U, ESC Region 11's monthly video series featuring upcoming learning
opportunities ... provided Just 4U. I'm Billy Schewee. Here's a look at what's happening
in March:
On March 5, "Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement," will focus on research-based
instructional methods with positive effects on student learning. Topics include identifying
similarities and differences, summarizing and note-taking, nonlinguistic representations
and cooperative learning. This training is based on the book Classroom Instruction That
Works: Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement by Marzano, Pickering,
and ***.
The webinar "Best Practices for Blended Learning," on March 18, will include three modules: a
self-paced exploration of 21st Century strategies; a learner-centered, active webinar; and an
application of the learning. This experience combines the personal interaction of the face-to-face
classroom with the convenience of online learning. Participation requires a webcam or microphone.
New bus drivers have several opportunities throughout the month of March to participate
in the 20-hour Bus Driver Certification course offered at several Region 11 locations. Certified
drivers who need a refresher course may choose from several March dates to take the eight-hour
course that is required by the state every three years.
And coming up in April... See and experience new trends and products
at the annual Technology Vendor Fair on April 11 at the service center. Vendors will be
presenting and demonstrating their products . The event is free and includes lunch.
Administrative professionals, April is your month. Created just for you, our Annual Administrative
Assistant and Secretary Conference on April 14 will feature a keynote speaker, as well
as a wide variety of breakout sessions with content that you can use in the ever-changing
and demanding role at your school or district. Lunch is included.
As you can tell, our staff has a variety of on-site workshops, as well as distance-learning
opportunities, planned for March. For more information, please visit our website at www.esc11.net.
Thanks for watching Just 4U!
