Hello and welcome to our first daily look at the 50th anniversary of the Annecy International
Animation Film Festival. A special edition filled with surprises
and that has already attracted a large public on the opening day.
Let's see what Patrick Eveno, CITIA CEO, has to say on the subject...
Well, it's Monday. It's up and running. There are tons of people in the forum,
people queueing for tickets, people at the boutique...
All these months spent preparing it, are for this Monday,
when it all begins, and there's such a happy feeling around
one I hope is shared by all the festivalgoers and the professionals
that will join us at Mifa on Wednesday.
The screenings started this Monday morning
and the Annecy live team were there to meet people and get their reactions as they came out of the theatres.
Redline, the graphic style really wasn't bad at all...
It was pretty intense, go and see that and your eyes pop out
honestly, it's amazing! It was really cool.
The Lost Thing, by Shaun Tan. There was something missing for me for it to be perfect visually,
maybe the 3D side, too imposing again, too artificial...
Otherwise the design, the colours, the lighting, and the parable was nice too.
Simple but nice. I really liked it.
The day came to a close with the opening ceremony in the presence of Sylvain Chomet
who introduced the premiere of his latest feature, L'Illusionniste.
L'Illusionniste should have been released in 1960.
So if Tati would have made it, it would have come out the first year of the Annecy Festival.
Happy birthday Annecy!
