There's only One Direction we could go with this week's New Releases Roundup!
That's right, British boy band sensation One Direction are back. They've conquered the
pop world from smash singles and chart-busting albums to touring the world and making a movie
about it, but rather than take some time off they're bringing us Midnight Memories. Packed
with thrilling modern pop and uplifting ballads, plus bringing folky, Mumford and Sons-esque
sounds to the mix, it's everything you want in a One D album, plus a little extra.
If you like the folky tinge of Midnight Memories, check out this new release from a surprising
pair: Norah Jones and Billie Joe Armstrong. Their collaboration Foreverly pays tribute
to the rootsy Everly Brothers album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us, beautifully delivered
with Norah's supple vocals against Billie Joe's more ragged tones.
And for more vintage sounds, check out a jazz gem from the vaults. Blue Note is serving
up a late-career look back at boundary-breaking pianist Thelonious Monk with Paris 1969. Monk
may have been wrestling with personal and professional woes, but that didn't stop him
and the band from swinging and bopping through this live set. For more on these and other
