There’s no doubt about it - HTC is getting significantly less coy in their phone naming.
The latest Android handset is called the Incredible S. But is it incredible? Um… no. It’s
pretty good though, but I suppose the HTC Pretty Good isn’t so catchy. Hardware-wise,
there’s a 4 inch touchscreen and a slightly Quasimodo-esque lump on the back, which actually
makes it more comfortable to hold. Inside, you’ll find Android 2.2, so not Gingerbread,
although it is a promised update. There’s a 1 Ghz processor, so again, it’s not ***
up to date as there’s no dual core processor. However, it’s got several nice touches - you’ll
find when you rotate the phone the illuminated side buttons also rotate (although only if
you turn it anti-clockwise). There’s also several classic novels pre-installed in the
reader app, so when you’re unexpectedly caught on a long tube journey, you’ll have
some books to catch up on. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel camera on the back, and an
8 megapixel camera on the back, which records 720p video. Android devices are currently
notably lacking video editing software, but if you just want to chop the front and back
off and send stuff to YouTube, you could do worse than Video Snip. It’s only 61p and
will pre-import all your clips, allowing you to set and in and out point, trimming and
then sharing via YouTube, Flickr, Facebook and email. The Incredible S is currently exclusively
available at the Carphone Warehouse, so if it floats your boat, get yourself down there.
