Hi! I’m Lisa Krone and I am here with Best Epicurean on behalf of expertvillage.com and
we are going to talk about re-heating leftovers. So I’ve made a couple of things earlier
today and now I am going to re-heat them. The first one we are going to re-heat is a
little bit of chicken tenders, I cut them up, and I put them with some tomato sauce
and pasta last night. So I have my son here Scott and he is hungry so we are going to
re-heat some leftovers so he is going to help out. So anyway the first thing I am going
to do when I reheat them, I am going to reheat this in the microwave. I am going to take
the lid off, I’m going to smell. Hmm, that smells good. If it doesn’t smell good, don’t
re-heat it and get rid of it. I am just going to lay the top on lightly like that and because
it is pasta and it is meat, I think I am going to reheat this for about 2 minutes. So whenever
you have something with meat, you want to do it a little bit longer. The pasta itself
is shorter. You stick it in the microwave, you set the timer and you go. In the meantime
what I am going to do is I had made some grilled cheese for a toddler that I know earlier today
and I wrapped it in tin foil because I planned to use the toaster oven, so I had it on a
paper plate. This is really cool! I dump it right into the tin foil so now I am not being
wasteful. I go over to my toaster oven, I pull out the pan. I just kind of wrap it around
this way because you want to make sure it will fit in there but you want to do it on
the tin foil so this way I don’t have to clean the pan and toaster oven. It gets dirty
enough on its own without additional cleaning. I stick it in and I set it for about 4 minutes
in my toaster oven so it comes out nice and crispy and melted. It has been sitting in
the refrigerator for a while. When my food comes out of the microwave, I make sure I
have some utensils here so that I can mix them around. In Scott’s case, sometimes
I don’t even bother putting it on a plate. He will eat it right out of the container.
Here I have just some pasta with some butter and some Parmesan and a little bit of garlic
and this I would re-heat in the microwave for about a minute. If I was going to re-heat
a much larger container of the chicken tenders or pizza, I would put my oven on to about
350 to 400 degrees and I would set it for about 10 minutes. If it needs to be longer,
then it is better I go back instead of it being charbroiled. That is how we reheat leftovers
for yummy delicious second chance for a great meal.
