One of my jobs is to help educate the children to help take care of their own bodies. And
children are much more motivated to take care of their bodies when they understand how their
bodies work. I'm always looking for a tool or a diagram to use to explain to a child
how their body works or what is happening in their body. Well the first thing we do,
is we get the whole team together in a room for a brainstorm. So, we have the art team,
the audio team, the learning team, marketing, the process is a very iterative one. We talk
to teachers and we talk to students, and learn what kind of knowledge they already have.
Do our bones connect to other bones? Why do germs have an effect on us? Do we have 5 senses?
And what we discovered, is that a product that is meant for 4-8 year olds, that's a
huge span of knowledge. And that insight became our road map for the product. Children are
little scientists. And they learn so much by exploring through the world around them, by making
observations, and children in this age range, the 4-7 age range, are really growing in their
independence and their desire to express their own will, and their decision-making
power. So what we've done with the Tag Human Body set, is that we have provided children
with the educational content that they're naturally drawn to, which is learning about
themselves. And we've really infused that into fun and engaging game-play patterns.
And the Tag Human Body set really contains a lot of content that will teach children
the information that they'll need to make informed decisions about their health. For
instance, one thing that we cover in the Human Body set, is that there are certain foods
that will provide the body with more fuel. And so by giving children that information,
they can make better decisions about how to treat their bodies. I love how much material
we crammed into this. We have songs, we have activities, we have jokes, we have sound effects,
we have so much information. Another thing that we did that we've never done before,
is we included an interactive growth chart. So this is a growth chart you actually attach
to the wall, kids stand against it, and then you can measure them with the Tag Reader and
it will announce how tall they are. "Awesome, 49 and a half!" We also included sticker sheets,
so we have interactive stickers you can put them on anything and you tap them with the
Tag Reader, and they talk. And you get the fun facts, and I'd have to say my favorite,
is just knowing that kids are going to have fun playing with this, and they're going to
be learning while they play. Our whole practice saw me reviewing it, several people came by
and commented on it, how much they loved it and how much they loved the approach, and
were asking to be able to use it. It's a parent teaching tool for a parent, and it helps,
it's a very good foundation for future studies in science, for biology, for learning more
about your body. And it's a very motivating tool.
