Oftentimes, we renounce God by our actions, deeds, or our thought life, and a whole lot
of the time, by the things that we say, by our verbal life.
So, we ask the question, why do we renounce God?
If we use Proverbs 6 as a guideline, we can focus in on the things that God finds to be
an abomination.
Actually, there are seven things that he hates, and we can, on this premise alone, we
can base our actions on doing the right thing.
Yes.
The seven things that God hates.
As believers, we are supposed to show in our private lives, in our public life, how much
we actually love Jesus Christ, how much we have faith in God through Christ Jesus.
But, many times, we re not aware of our actions because we're in the wrong place at the
wrong time, sometimes talking to the wrong person.
So, today we re going to take our text from Proverbs 6 through 12 and Galatians 1
through 9.
If you have your Bibles, you can read along with me or I can read it to you.
We are first going to start out with Proverbs, and we can start out at 6, Chapter 6 and
we can go down to 12, and maybe 19 instead of 12.
A worthless person, a wicked man walks with a perverse mouth.
He winks with his eyes.
He shuffles his feet.
He points with his fingers.
Perversity is in his heart.
He devises evil continually.
He sows discord, therefore his calamity shall come suddenly.
Suddenly, he shall be broken without remedy.
These six things the Lord hates.
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him.
A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a wicked heart, feet that
are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord
among brethren.
Those are the seven things which God hates, and you will learn to hate what He hates and
love what He loves.
Now, let's go over to the book of Galatians, and we'll read Galatians 1:9, through
we'll stop at 12.
As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you
than what you have received, let him be accursed, for do I now persuade men or God or do
I seek to please men, for if I still please men, I would not be a bond servant of Christ.
But, I make known to you that the Gospel which has been preached by me is not according
to man, for neither I received it from man nor was I taught it, but it came through the
revelation of Jesus Christ.
And, this scripture is telling us that we will learn how to please God and not man.
And, by the way, men can never be pleased.
We understand this.
Only God can be pleased.
If you are trying your best to please men or a man, it's never going to happen.
Only God can be pleased.
If we work from the premise of these seven things that God actually hates or that he
finds to be an abomination, we can start with pride.
The very first one is pride.
I speak out against pride quite frequently.
Pride is not who we are supposed to be as believers.
Pride is the ultimate beginning of sin.
I say that quite frequently.
Pride is what got Satan booted out of the presence of God.
Pride will often give over to other things, such as rebellion, and rebellion never wins.
If you are full of rebellion, if you rebel against your Mom, teenagers, you're not going
to win, because Mom and Dad, they're the one who has all the money.
You have nothing.
Mom and Dad has the car, the vehicle, the food.
You have nothing.
Mom and Dad is who provide the shelter to help keep the rain off of your head.
You have nothing.
So, the spirit of rebellion isn't meaning you any good.
You can't win.
If you are rebelling against the Government, nine times out of ten, you're not going to
win.
The Government will simply do something to appease you, but you cannot win.
Rebellion does not win.
So, if you are a person who's hosting this spirit, you should think twice and say to
yourself, Wow, I can't win.
So, pride often puts people in this position where they believe they can do any and
everything.
It often gives rise to new ideas on how to commit sin, because you're thinking, I can
do whatever I want to do however and whenever.
Most people believe somehow that they are slicker or more smoother than the Police
Department, but you're not.
It is just the spirit of pride who is making you believe this.
As believers, we are not to look down on sinners, ever.
We are not better than sinners.
We simply do not practice sin, but we do occasionally fall into sin.
But, more likely, we are deceived into sin and we pray to God, through Christ Jesus, to
ask Him to forgive us, and we often, most of the time, turn away from that sin.
Yes.
We do not practice sin.
But, sinners, they practice sin every single day.
They do not, more than likely, ask God for forgiveness.
It is just a way of life.
But, as believers, we are not to look down on sinners.
It is a form of pride.
God does not want us to look down on sinners.
He'd prefer that we pray for them and ask God to help them.
Yes.
Some people tend to believe that being proud of your children, your grandkid or
something, or maybe, you've shown discipline in your eating habits, or the way you save
money, and some people believe that you shouldn't be proud of that.
That it s a form of pride.
No.
That is actually allowed.
It is good to be proud of your grandchildren.
That's allowed by God.
You just need to learn how to keep your pride in check.
Be sure it stays right there.
Yes.
Pride will get out of hand, and it will get out of hand quickly.
Pride also gives occasion to the spirit of untruth.
I preach about the spirit of untruth quite frequently.
It makes people believe that they know every single thing.
Pride prevents people from gaining the knowledge and wisdom that they need spiritually,
because they believe they already know it all.
Pride does this to people.
If you take a look at the seven things that God hates, if you go back over to the book
of Proverbs, you will see that pride is the very first thing.
It is on the top of the list.
Yeah.
He does not like pride.
Excessive pride will get you in trouble with God every single time.
Go over to Proverbs, start at 6, read it.
Yeah, the seven things that he does not like.
If you are the type of person who likes to say, and I hear it quite frequently, we all
fall short of the glory of God.
Yes, we've all sinned and we've all fallen short of the glory of God.
But, that is not what Paul is talking about with this particular scripture, but I hear
believers saying that when they mess up a little bit.
Yeah, and you're just copping out.
You're just using that for an excuse.
Everyone knows we are never going to be able to reach the glory of God.
That is impossible.
We're never going to be perfect.
Jesus requires it that we be perfect because our Father in heaven is perfect, but we
have to strive for that every single day.
There's only one perfect one and that is Christ Jesus.
He is our model, and that is who we're supposed to pattern ourselves after, Christ
Jesus.
We will never be perfect as long as we live on this Earth.
You need to check your pride.
God does not like it.
The second thing on the list is lying, telling lies.
If you know of a person who, we call them pathological lies, they just lie, lie, lie.
These people, they actually believe that you cannot detect their lying.
They believe that the people around them do not understand or know that they are telling
a lie.
They are that far gone with lying.
It is a spirit.
It is in your Holy Bible.
Yeah, the spirit of lying.
The spirit of lying.
Telling lies, some people, it's almost like they sent their tongues to trade school to
learn how to lie.
And, some people use their tongue as a tool against you, as in telling a lie on you.
Lying is not conducive to a believer's lifestyle.
People who tell lies all the time, they have actually lost the war, that war that goes
on inside of our hearts, good and bad, good and evil.
If you give over to evil too many times, then it just become second nature to you to
commit sin, to commit evil and wickedness.
You lose.
You lie, and you lie, and you lie, and it doesn't faze you anymore.
So, God does not like a lying tongue and he does not like the liar.
Actually, he hates the liar and he hates the person who's telling the lie.
The lie and the liar, God hates, and again, you will learn to hate what God hates.
If you can do that, you will please God.
Yes, you will please God.
That's what you're trying to do.
You cannot please man or mankind.
And, by the way, men folk, as women, we know that you can never be pleased.
We understand that very well.
But, I see most women, especially the wives, doing the best that they can to please
their man.
Women, I stand behind you on that.
Lying, God does not like it.
The third thing on the list would be shedding of innocent blood.
Normally Okay, this doesn't have anything to do with our military, nothing at all.
Sure.
We can usually talk about abortion.
That's the quickest way to explain this.
God does not like it when people shed blood of the innocent.
Normally, when people, women, have an abortion or they experience an abortion, they
carry what we call blood guilt.
It means you feel, you're burdened by guilt of shedding the blood of the innocent, the
fetus you aborted, the baby or the fetus.
God does not like that.
Shedding of innocent blood, that would be sort of like trading or sacrificing to God for
your guilt.
You cannot make a sacrifice to God for guilt, to cover your guilt, because guilt is
associated with sin, and if you re carrying blood guilt, then it is a heavy burden.
Ladies, if you have had an abortion, don't worry or don't be distracted by the scenario
or the circumstances as to why you had the abortion.
Try to pray, God, pray, God, pray, God, through Christ Jesus.
It takes a long time, but God will forgive you.
Think of it this way.
You've already fulfilled the first requirement to be forgiven by God, to have a broken
spirit, and your spirit is broken.
Yes.
You just have to ask God to forgive you.
He will heal you.
Again, do not be distracted by why you had to do that, or why you were deceived into
having an abortion.
Ask God to heal you.
He will heal you.
Yes, it is a heavy burden to carry.
If we read Jeremiah, it talks about people who are sacrificing children.
Yeah, it's in the book of Jeremiah.
It talks about how God does not like that.
Yeah, if you are having an abortion, that's the same pretty much the same premise.
You are trying to sacrifice something to God.
If you are going to sacrifice something to God, it has to be holy.
It has to be pure.
Remember in the O.T., when people were sacrificing the lambs, it was usually without
spot or blemish.
Christ Jesus, sacrificial lamb, He was without sin.
He was spotless, blameless.
He was pure.
So, if you are calling yourself making a sacrifice to God, then that is a sin.
That is why you feel so guilty.
It has to be holy.
It can't be unholy for holy, unpure for pure, bad for good.
That is actually a principle, but it is a principle that man has polluted.
It is a very extremely valuable principle.
Man has polluted this principle.
Yes.
We can use a small example, a simple example, just maybe a couple, they're not married,
marriage license in place.
They are fornicating.
Fornication is bad in the eyes of God.
Yes, and a whole lot of the times, it's bad in the eyes of society.
It just depends on where you are.
So, fornication, bad.
You get pregnant, you're in the family way, and you decide, and you want to have an
abortion.
So, what you are doing, you are sacrificing the good for bad.
You can't do that.
Fornication is bad.
The fetus, the baby is good.
So, you're sacrificing the baby through an abortion for what you did which was bad.
Your behavior was bad, fornication.
Yeah.
God does not buy that.
You cannot sacrifice to receive forgiveness from God.
You can't do that.
It's not going to work.
So, shedding of innocent blood, do what you can to stay away from that.
Some people even say that animals, we should not sacrifice pets, not deer and wild
animals, because I tell you like this.
If I'm out somewhere, I won't even do safari, because I'm not going where the wild
animals are.
So, if some people would call that a blood sport, but I don't know.
I just know I can only speak for me.
You would never catch me on safari.
I do not want to go where the hyenas are, the lions and the tigers and all of that
business.
I'm not interested.
But, pets that are in your home, cats, dogs, some people even consider that to be a
blood guilt if you harm or hurt, or you're cruel to your animals, and I feel that way
also.
You should not be cruel to your animals.
Yeah, you should love them.
Do not shed innocent blood.
God does not like that.
So, the fourth thing we can talk about is wicked, scheming hearts.
These people, just your heart itself, is an abomination to God.
Your heart, yeah.
Before you actually carry the deed out or do the evil wickedness that you're planning to
do, your heart itself.
Your heart itself is what God hates.
These people, they will sit and plan and plot.
They will scheme detail of how it's normally something to hurt other people, but it's
always very detailed, the plan.
It's almost like a business plan.
It's just that immaculate on how to hurt someone or steal something or kill someone.
Wicked scheming hearts, these people, they are usually brilliant.
They have brilliant minds.
They have been deceived by Satan, maybe, to do something evil.
Satan uses their God-given brilliant minds to his advantage, to do evil, wicked Maybe a
computer hacker.
Computer hackers are brilliant people, but they sit down and they do evil things to
people, a whole lot of people.
Wicked scheming hearts, it seems like there's a whole industry of people like that.
You're scheming all the time.
There's no let up.
This is quite different from premeditated you know, the people who, they're very angry
or they plot and they premeditate on how to hurt someone.
That is quite different, because normally, that's a one-time event.
A person with a wicked scheming heart, this is just who that person is.
They're just that type of person, wicked scheming heart.
Remember, with lying, it is the highest form of disrespect that we can offer a person.
Yes, and try to make telling the truth a necessity for your conversation.
The truth should be a necessity for you to converse with anyone.
Normally, people do not like to hear the truth.
A lot of people won't have conversations with me, because I just do not like telling
lies, not deliberately.
I can be deceived into it, but not deliberately.
I do not like to disrespect people, and if you tell a lie to a person, you are
disrespecting that person.
Let's talk about feet rushing into evil.
Again, a whole industry of people, these people believe somehow, that they are going to
lose time, that they're not going to have enough time to do the evilness or wickedness
that they have already planned out.
Feet that rush into evil, look at it this way.
If you say to a person or people, Come, let us go unto the house of the Lord.
You get nothing.
You'll probably get the crickets and frogs in the background.
It's just that quiet.
Let us go unto the house of the Lord.
You get nothing.
But, if you say, Come, let's have a party.
Feet will rush to your car.
And, I'm not saying that having a party is evil.
Of course not.
But, people will rush to your car to go with you to whatever store you need to go to buy
the items you need to assist you in your partying.
Partying is not evil or wicked, having a beer, having a glass of wine, not evil.
It's secondary actions that become the evil part.
Yeah, drinking, partying, enjoying one another, that's primary.
The things that happen after that, after you consume excessive amounts of alcohol, that
is secondary, and that's when your evilness and wickedness will show up.
False testimony, false testimony, these people are quite injurious to their neighbor.
Some people will go into a courthouse, and they will place their right hand on a Bible,
and they will make an oath appeal to God.
Yes, I'm going to tell the truth.
And, they will sit on that stand after they've said that, and within the same hour,
they will tell a lie.
They will give false testimony.
God does not like that.
These people cannot be trusted.
These are the type of people that will make things up or make you look bad.
Do not bear false witness.
Do not give a false testimony.
Do not bear false witness.
It's not a good idea.
God does not like that.
And if we do these things, that's what we are doing.
We are renouncing God.
Anyway you look at it, based on these simple premises, seven things that he hates.
If we do these things in our thought life, deed life, verbally do it, we are renouncing
God.
Renounce means to put away or to put aside voluntarily, or it could mean to a refusing
to recognize or abide by something or someone any longer.
That is what renounce means, and when you practice these things, telling lies, too much
pride, feet rushing into evil, things of that nature, you are renouncing God.
Why do we renounce God?
It is not a good idea, especially if you are a believer.
The last thing I would like to talk about is sowing discord.
That is my personal favorite, because a person who sows discord among brothers and
sisters, they are the ultimate troublemaker.
Yes, they are.
These types of people, they are slanderous.
They aggravate everything that's being said.
They will do that.
They spread ill-natured gossip and lies on other people, and they are often the host of
a rebellion as I said, rebellion can't win chaos and confusion.
A person who likes to keep things going, and they are the type of person also who starts
trouble and leaves you and maybe someone else there to deal with that trouble, handle
that trouble, or face that trouble.
They normally will just walk away from the trouble.
A person or brother or sister who sows discord is not conducive to friendship, a
believer, a church-going person.
They are some of the worst people that you ever want to meet.
If you feel as though your life and maybe this might be the byproduct, if you practice
these seven things that God has asked us not to do, He hates them, if you feel like your
life is enveloped by darkness, if you feel as though you, no matter what happens, no
matter what you do, you just simply cannot be satisfied, you have everything and anything
that anyone on this Earth, anyone could want, materialistically, you have it, you own it,
you possess it, and you're still not satisfied, it is because it is a spiritual hunger
that you are feeling and the only way that you can fulfill that spiritual hunger is
through Christ Jesus.
He is the only one who can give you meaning to your life, and He is the only one who can
lift that blanket of darkness that has enveloped you.
Things that you can do that really pleases our great Father in heaven, obedience, a
humble heart, holiness, separating yourself unto Him, surrender life to God through
Christ Jesus.
Thanksgiving, thanking God for every single thing that you can possibly think of, prayer
life, developing prayer life, a good prayer life, pray God, pray God, pray God, every
chance you get.
Faith, you have to have faith in God, through Christ Jesus.
Faith pleases God.
You have to believe that God is who He says that He is.
He is the God of the universe.
Do not renounce God.
We must learn to please God the father, through Christ Jesus, and not man.
In the name of Christ Jesus.
