On our farm we don’t use any synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.
We only use natural plant protection products.
We use a lot of pre-crops and intercrops.
As well, we use repellents with a basis of orange...
and lemon essential oils or garlic and onion.
We produce liquid manure which is another natural pest repellent.
Farms cannot survive without pollinators.
Insects that pollinate crops increase product yields and quality.
Therefore high yields and top quality directly affect prices and profits.
Without pollinators crops would not survive...
and it would be impossible to cultivate plants.
My primary motivation for farming ecologically is to protect the environment.
I believe that I and my farmer friends are morally obliged to farm this way.
My roots are agricultural: my grandfather as well as my father were farmers...
and my duty is to protect our surrounding environment.
I want to leave this knowledge and land for my children as a legacy...
because it is a great place to work.
Our farm strives to promote organic farming in many different ways.
We attend every one of the large organic food trade fairs.
We try to show how to use ecological cultivation methods.
We conduct a lot of training sessions at our farm...
teaching other farmers how to change their cultivation methods.
I am personally involved in the Podkarpacka Organic Farmers Association,
Organic Food Valley Cluster and many other associations...
connected with ecological farming.
Poland is a great country for ecological farming...
because we have plenty of small family farms...
which would be able to change their production model...
from conventional to ecological farming.
This transformation would not be difficult and it would enable the production of healthy food,
which is in high demand compared to processed industrial food.
The sales potential of such food is great.
It could be a special niche for small family farms.
Nowadays a lot of herbicides and artificial fertilizers are used in farming...
which are not always needed.
This pollutes the ground water.
This local pollution spreads through interconnected brooks
and rivers and finally ends up in the Baltic Sea.
Organic farming is a great alternative...
and method to improve water quality as well as our health.
