Have you ever cleaned out your garage or basement and wondered, "What do I do with all of this stuff?"
We have the answers for you. Welcome to the Washington County Environmental Center.
From your shelves to ours, drop-off your uneeded paint, cleaners, automotive or lawn products
for safe recycling and disposal.
Some of what you drop off may be stocked in our free product room.
Many common household items can be hazardous to you and the environment if not used up or
disposed of properly.
Common products that need to be brought into the environmental center include paints,
stains, and varnish. Automotive fluids such as used motor oil, anti-freeze and gasoline.
Yard and garden garden products such as insect and weed killers.
And common household items such as oven cleaner, fluorescent bulbs and aerosol cans.
We also take electronics and common recyclables at the environmental center.

Here are some tips for safe transport of household hazardous waste. Transport items in a paper bag
or cardboard box. Put it in a trunk away from kids or pets.
Arrange bottles and cans in a single layer and upright. Make sure they are sealed -
paint cans can be double-stacked.
Label materials that are not in their original containers.
Oil, antifreeze and gas containers that are less than five gallons in size may be
returned for reuse.
Empty containers that have held hazardous products can be placed in the trash. Please don't place these
bottles in the recycling.
Please do not mix or combine chemicals. This can be dangerous and prevents recycling.
