-Music- Well from school I always knew that I was
better at the business side so I did business GCSE and my first year of A-Levels in business
and since then I always knew I wanted to get into some sort of business.
Every day is very different. I start work, as a rule, I start work at 8.30am What I like
about this job is no one day is the same, I'm meeting different people every day.
Well I'm in charge of the filing system, our database, I do sending out letters and making
up letters, I'll be in charge of doing mailing on the days when our other administrator isn't
in, answering the phones, sending out emails. The apprenticeship is partly work based and
partly office based, so that's a good thing about this course its very flexible.
I find it better learning on the job, than just being stuck in college all day but working
for a mental health charity I've learnt so much about mental health and all the different
situations people can get into. I think the benefits of doing an apprenticeship
whether it's a level 2 or level 3 or a level 5 is the flexibility. Its available to staff
of any age, it gives you the chance to get a recognised qualification on your CV and
it also gives you a chance to refresh yourself with some new skills as well which is why
I've decided to do it because I've got the experience but it doesn't do me any harm to
refresh my skills as well. Well I'm hoping that when I've completed this
apprenticeship I'm going to stay on here for a little bit longer, gain some more experience
in mental health and I would like to move on to another mental health charity to gain
even more experience. I think once I have completed this course
I will then look at either doing the next level up which could be a level 5 in management
or I could look at another qualification at the same level possibly in IT.
I would promote being an apprentice to my friend about the experience, the knowledge
and how to gain experience and skills from the people in the working environment.
I think for anybody the good thing now is with apprenticeships being open to anybody
from 16 to 60. You've got a good chance to get a qualification that's valuable its worth having from many aspects really.
