The black mamba is an all purpose snake, which mainly searches the ground for small mammals.
It is arboreal part of the time and can be found basking on tree tops
but it prefers to lay on low branches of tree to prey on birds and small reptiles on occasion.
The chameleon is too large for a suitable meal and will be left alone.
A black mamba would not hesitate to strike and kill an adult lion if it stands between the snake and its lair.
The chameleon however poses no threat and will be tolerated to bask in the same tree.
The mamba prefers the safety of a disused burrow during the rain storm. Despite the snake fearsome reputation,
it is just as vulnerable to its environment like any other animal.
The safe burrow turns into a deadly trap with the escape rout blocked. Without any air pockets left,
the black mamba is doomed to drown.
