SIGHTS OF O MORRAZO
Grandpa, after the operation, when I can see again, can we go to coast to see the Ocean?
Of course, I'll take you to Galicia.
(Sigh) It’s been 40 years since I left.
You lived in Galicia?
Yes, I live in O Morrazo, in the province of Pontevedra.
There you can see the ocean everyday, and there where some fantastic natural outlooks.
Did I ever tell you the story of "The Traveller"?
The Ocean is one of the characters, but lets start at the beginning.
In the year 2008, there lived a young man who went by the name of "The Traveller".
He was an insatiable traveller, always heading to different lands.
During his travels he reached Galicia, with the aim of seeing the open sea. One morning…
Gandpa, what was he wearing?
Ah, you can come up with that bit.
OK, then, he was dressed like you where in that photo, taken at the park.
Wearing Jeans? I don't think quite fits. Well, anyway, let's keep going.
One morning, the "The Traveller" found a beautiful lagoon on a mountainside in Moaña.
Suddenly, he heard a beautiful voice that filled the air.
You must know that a mortal can never leave the lagoon of a Moura.
They must become part of its waters.
What brings you here to the Moura of Domaio's lagoon?
They call me "The Traveller". I'm hunting viewpoints. I am searching for the Ocean.
Would there be by any chance, fair Moura, a way to atone for my error?
Is there something I can offer you?
Answer me, Moura! Is there nothing you desire?
You have earned my mercy.
I too wish to visit the ocean, but I cannot leave the lagoon by my own will.
My essence is trapped in the waters of the lagoon.
Take some of my water with you and drop it into the ocean. Only then will you be free.
However, you must reach the ocean by sunset, otherwise the water
will loose my essence and you will become part of the lagoon forever.
To reach the Cape Home, where you will find the ocean,
you must first gain permission from the King of the Mountains.
The key to gaining it is within you, but you will only find it
at the crosses of O Morrazo. Remember you only have until sunset.
But, what must I do at the crosses!?
Tell me, Moura!
Moura!!!
And so, "The Traveller" began his journey to Cape Home.
"The Traveller" reached the Cross of A Paralaia, in Moaña,
a great cross made of wood, but he knew not what to do.
He then remembered the Moura's words .
He was a discoverer of lands.
He dug out his telescope and surveyed the surrounding land
whilst attempting to memorize everything he saw.
"The Traveller" then climbed to the summit of the Hermelo Mountain, in Bueu.
There lay a great stone cross, on the peak of a large crag.
Again "The Traveller" took out his telescope to taken in the sights that surrounded him.
Our hero at last arrived at Mount Carrasco.
He climbed the 100 steps that led him to the Balcony of the King.
There he marvelled at the wonderous land below.
King of the Mountains, I am "The Traveller", I request your permission to continue with my journey.
Show yourself!
Do you truly believe I will grant your request? Where are you headed, traveller?
I am headed to Cape Home, because the Moura of Domaio's curse,
with the aim of releasing her into the ocean.
I journey to the Paralaia Cross, the wooden cross, where I saw
the village of Moaña, the city of Vigo, and the "bateas" in the middle of the bay.
I also travelled to the stone Cross of Santiago of Hermelo, where I contemplated
the Ons archipelago, the Pontevedra bay, and the village of Bueu.
Test me for I am ready!
Good, then answer me this. If you had to choose, which of these lads would you destroy?
Which of your eyes would you prefer to loose? Neither, just like these lands.
I would rather die before depriving Mankind the wonder of these sights.
You have shown that Natura guides you, and so you have my permission to continue your journey.
However on this path you will have to cross the enchanted maiden's forest, in Aldan.
And the only way to escape from there is by finding the key. Take care, traveller.
Are you enjoying yourself?
Yes, yes! Tell me about the maiden's forest
Calm down, wait until we get there.
It was the garden owned by the lords of Aldan that was known as the "enchanted forest".
¡Wow, it's just like playing "it"!
Yes. And "The Traveller" was about to choose it.
And that's how "The Traveller" rid himself of the Moura's spell.
"The Traveller" closed his eyes and fixed that image in his mind so he would never forget it.
Granpa, do you think I could meet the traveller in Galicia?
No, I'm afraid not, but you can be the new traveller
and you'll see the mountains and the sea, only in O Morrazo.
