It's time for social media quick tip:
today we're going to be creating a facebook cover image:
with canva is a simple graphic design
tool its web-based. Hi I'm Kristy Schnabel
from It's Virtually Done dot com and let's head on over to Canva
okay we're over in canva.com. CANVA.com
and we want to create a facebook cover image: so I am going to hover
on this Facebook Cover and press it
and it opens up a blank
cover image that is sized perfectly for Facebook
Love that. Okay so let's orient ourselves a little bit. We have a search
tool at the top. We have various layouts that
are already made up for you. We have a text tool you can add text to the canvas
or you can select one these images below and then we have different backgrounds
we can select and we have different colors
right now I'm going to use white and then lastly we have
uploads of images that you can upload from
your computer to use as graphical elements. So I'm going to click back in the search
field
because I like create a holiday facebook cover
and so I'm going to press this Christmas
icon which is gonna bring in a lot of holiday
elements. So let's start choosing a few. I'm going to start with jingle bells here.
One of the things I want to show you is that you can change the colors.
You press on the red circle here and you can change it
to a different color. Let's choose another
element.
Let's pick a tree. Oh those two don't go together very well do they?
And lets choose one more...
Let's choose the candy cane. And there's a little rotate item so that you can
rotate the element. And why am I needing to do that? Remember that your Facebook profile picture is
going to come in right about there
so you need to keep this area right there blank.
Okay let's add a little text because I do want to show you how to do that. It does stick it in
right in the middle there don't worry about it.
I was gonna type my name. Let's hope I don't make any mistakes.
mistakes okay
a click away from it and then I'm going to kind
hover over it and the arrows show up
and then I'm just going to move it wherever I want. This is such an easy tool use.
I hop that you just have fun with it. This is the beta version
of Canva so things might change a little when you come here
To save this -- I wish it said save-- but I'm gonna click on link and publish
because that's how you do it.
I want to publish this. Don't worry it's not gonna go onto
your Facebook cover right now. It's just basically going to save it to your computer.
So I want to save it as an image. I would select PDF
if I wanted to print it out and I was doing a flyer or something, but for right now
I'm just gonna click on image. I forgot to give it a name. It does give you a
default name
and so now it's saving it to my computer. You can see I have a lot to practice
one's here
and just automatically gives it a name and then you'd open that up
in the folder and you're getting ready to
upload it to your Facebook page. So let's do that next. So now. I'm over at my
Facebook page and you can see I've already created
an image here using Canva and
if you wanted to upload that image that you just saved you a just press
on "change cover" and then "upload photo"
and then you would select the photo in the folder that it was saved.
So I hope you have a lot of fun with Canva. I sure am.
And once again, this is Kristy Schnabel at It's Virtually
Done dot com com and have a great day!
