The Army's new MultiCamouflage uniform. Extensive testing and soldier feedback was
used to choose the pattern. We sent alternate uniforms
to two battalions currently deployed in Afghanistan to get their
feedback. And we also sent a team of researchers, which
were soldiers, and we sent them over with several different
uniform camouflage patterns. They took calibrated photos and in many different
types of terrain. We had over 750 soldiers look at all these
calibrated photos of camouflage, and we had them evaluate and try to detect
the different camouflage patterns at various ranges.
Then we went back to the soldiers that we had fielded the alternate uniforms in theater
to and got their opinion, and the two correlated
very nicely, so we felt we were very well grounded in making
this recommendation.
