At the University of Montevideo, we believe

In 1986, the University began a journey that is still underway.
In its third decade of existence, it offers more than twenty
undergraduate degrees, eighteen Master’s degrees and
postgraduate programs, as well as diplomas and
numerous professional enhancement programs.
More than two thousand students currently study at the
University, in the School of Business Administration
and Economics, the School of Communications,
the School of Engineering, the Law School
and the School of Humanities, the latter of which
recently added the Institute of Higher Education.
Furthermore, the University consists of
IEEM, its Bussiness School, and
the Centre for Biomedical Sciences.
More than 900 students have graduated with
Bachelor degrees; more than 1,000 graduates
have finished Master’s degrees; and more
than 1,300 professionals have completed
continuing education and professional enhancement programs.
The University's buildings are set in an attractive
campus in Parque Batlle, an area with gardens and several
noteworthy buildings and educational institutions.
The School of Engineering and the Centre of
Biomedical Sciences are located in a new venue in Ponce.
The Faculty members of the University, both
native and foreign, are experts in their fields.

around the world come to the University
of Montevideo to teach courses and seminars.
The University of Montevideo strongly encourages
academic research with the intent
to contribute to knowledge innovation.

The Office of Information Technology provides
computing and communications resources to
students, staff and faculty members of
the University of Montevideo.
The classrooms are equipped to allow
an interactive and dynamic methodology.
Students can access to their own, personal e-mail
through University-provided applications.
They can check their grades, exams
and further information using their cell-phones
by means of our free digital web.
Updated information about the University
is available everyday at www.um.edu.uy.
On a monthly basis, the University publishes
more than a hundred articles.
It updates research papers daily.
We believe that working hard is the key for educating
honest men and women. We accompany
them through this growth process.
Every student has an academic adviser
for his or her succesful performance.

Since its inception, the University offers
scholarships and funding for students.
32% count with some financial aid
24% come from Uruguay´s interior
and we offer them differential instalment.

Basically, it takes into account the personal allocations
of each student and they reward them for the
effort and excellence they achieve throughout their paths”.
The Department of International Affairs enables the
great majority of our students to access to international
Universities to continue their majors.
The University of Montevideo runs exchange programs
with seventy international institutions.

a Doctorate in Literature at the University of Navarra.
It was a very enriching experience from a professional,
academical and personal point of view”.
We believe in quality teaching.
Because of this, we commit ourselves to
extracurricular activities that enrich human
formation: sports, choir, and voluntary
work to assist those in need.
Our students stay connected after they graduate
The University of Montevideo Alumni Association
brings together former students and graduates and
collaborates to fund scholarships.
The IEEM’s Alumni Association organizes group activities.
Every year, it gathers professionals
to reconnect and plan for the future.
According to a recent survey,
95% of graduates are employed.
We encourage a strong company-university relationship.
Because of this, our students must participate
in mandatory internships during their degree.
