Hi I'm Meg and I'm an academic coach. Today I'm going to tell you all you need to know about
academic testing at Temple. Testing varies depending on class size.
And major for example in the main 101 class's that have up to
250 students the main method of testing
is multiple choice due to the time it would take for grading.
You'll have one of these scantron sheets. Where you fill in your answers.
For smaller classes, don't be surprised to find
in class writings for short answer essays.
However with a smaller classes with more discussion you are more likely to have an
in-depth knowledge of the material tested.
In many English Composition class's portfolios are turned in
at the end of the course for a final revised grade. Throughout the semester
many professors will give pop quizzes but while the date is not given
the number of pop quizzes is definite normally it will all be outlined in the syllabus.
provided by a teacher and if it is not feel free to visit a professor during
office hours. Not only will they answer your question
but they'll get to know you as well. The frequency of testing again varies by
class
and professor. You can find all this information
in the syllabus. And I strongly recommend writing down the dates in your agenda book
and planning you're studying accordingly. Never count on a test
to be the one you drop. If you don't study all of your material
you'll be stressed cramming for the final. The more you learn at a steady pace
the less stressed you will be come to finals. Most professors
Are not out to get their students. Many clearly outlined will be on the test
either in class or via study guide so look on blackboard and pay attention
These study guides can also be beneficial when it comes time to
study for finals whatever helps right. As for making up tests
this is a subject extremely varies from teacher to teacher.
Some professors will have a zero makeup policy.
but other are more willing. The professors that do not
give make up exams are usually the ones that drop the lowest test grade.
The other professors either require a doctors note
or explanation of a family emergency.
Again refer to each teachers syllabus and read their policy.
As long as you pay attention in class and take your time to study
far enough in advance, you'll be less stressed for final review.
Try to really understand the concepts being taught
so you don't forget them for the final. Lastly if you truly don't understand something
get the help you need. The longer you push off help
the deeper trouble you'll be in later. While it may seem like a lot
don't worry there are many students in this with you. I hope this video is
helpful
and to look at Temple
