>> I think the new Windows 8
and Office 2013 is an absolute game changer.
I think we're going to see students walk
into our classrooms with a lot more equipment.
They're going to have a new tablet.
They're going to have smart phones and instead of us
as teachers saying, "you know, I need you to put that away,"
I think by having the students pull out the equipment
that they're using in class and start using
as part of the lesson.
Putting their notes during class,
I think changes the picture of our instruction.
Office 365 for the first time,
students can pay a minimal amount or their colleges can
and this way the students can have the exact same version
of Office that you're teaching in the class.
So Office 365 has new features.
For example, more security.
They can use Microsoft Lync to do videoconferencing,
which will be perfect for all my instruction.
So instead of answering a question that a student has
with e-mail, you could setup a free video online conference
with the student and share your screen and go step by step
through a process to answer the question
that they're having in an e-mail.
So this change with all this 365
and Windows 8 will be a perfect way
to strengthen online instruction
that we haven't had before in previous versions.
Our students today are in a time warp.
Sometimes it's going to be 2, 3, 4 years before they finish
with their college instruction or their high school instruction
and are employed by the workforce of tomorrow.
So with that in mind, I think we need to make sure that all
of our classes are absolutely cutting edge.
You know, I know sometimes we have older computers
but Windows 8 can be installed on almost any computer even
if it's beige, if you get my point.
So by teaching the latest and greatest technologies,
our students are going to be prepared 2, 3,
4 years down the line for whatever they need
in the next job workforce.
I think using cloud computing, new technologies with mobility,
writing apps are all going to be skills that are going to vital
to be employed in the future world.
