Hi! I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village, I am going to show you how to make
delicious traditional Thanksgiving Day stuffing for your turkey. Before I start explaining
how to make cornbread, I just want to discuss the differences between homemade cornbread
and cornbread that you either buy from a store or make from a mix. Of course, the biggest
difference is that you know exactly what is going into the cornbread that you are making
from scratch. You can also make variations as how moist the cornbread is versus how dry
it is. For instance for the stuffing, you might want to have it a little bit drier because
you are going to use stale bread crumbs anyway. Also if you use a mix, sometimes they have
ingredients that you were expecting. For instance, one popular mix uses beef fat in it which
if you are a vegetarian or if you don't eat red meat, can be a bit discerning to find
out. Also if you are buying store prepared cornbread, it is usually rather on a sweet
side which you don't really want super sweet cornbread if you are going to be putting it
into a turkey. Even though we are going to be adding some dried apples, it is still not
going to approach the sweetness that you would have from store bought cornbread.
