So, we are currently at the LYMEC Congress in Copenhagen.
The Congresses are, I would say, kind of the heart of LYMEC.
LYMEC is a great possibility for member organizations to exchange best practices
and to get information on about how not only organizational things,
but also politics are handled in the member organizations, and in the different countries.
For two days we debate resolutions,
which is basically where LYMECs whole policy framework is based on.
So that’s really an essential part of LYMEC. Because if we are to lobby for something,
if we are to make a campaign about something,
it should be based on the members opinions. And the members opinions are reflected in the resolutions that are adopted.
We also elect the bureau. The bureau is elected every two years.

And can you tell us a bit about what LYMEC can do for you and for Belarus?
So, LYMEC member organizations could raise awareness in their organizations and in their countries.
We are not only like the host of this event because we think that LYMEC is a great organization.
We have also chosen to be the host of this event because we find it important to send a signal to Denmark
that we want to take the International society serious.
Can you tell JD members why it’s really nice to visit a LYMEC Congress?
Well first of all because a lot of policies are not bound by only the Dutch borders
and a lot of policies are like European policies,
so it’s really important to discuss these policies with other people from all over Europe.
And second of all it’s really great to meet other liberals from Europe,
because although they are in a liberal organization, different countries have different points of view on different subjects.
I must tell you it is the most amazing experience I have ever had,
because you would say liberals are all the same, but actually every liberal is different. It’s like an individual.
What I think is the best thing about LYMEC,
is that you get people from a broad ideological scope and you really got to challenge your ideas.
And it is funny how you make a lot of friends
that you never meet at their homes or at your home
but you meet them all over in the world.
And what is even nicer is that you help them and help yourself
building a democracy and make liberalism stronger around Europe.
