What do you think of intermittent fasting while bodybuilding?
Intermittent fasting while bodybuilding is risky to say the least.
Intermittent fasting aids with weight loss, while body building adds muscle.
Intermittent fasting only causes weight loss if you don’t eat twice as much on the days
you can eat. But you shouldn’t workout on days you are fasting, because it drains your
body of energy.
Then fasting days should coincide with rest days on the workout plan.
If at all. Bodybuilders have to balance their protein intake with their caloric burn rate,
and they don’t build muscle if they aren’t eating.
Why would body building sites talk about intermittent fasting?
They think that the fasting accelerates weight loss while they are trying to lose fat and
build muscle.
I’ve heard that fasting while working out can make you feel high naturally.
Endorphins kick in when you are fasting and when working out, and it could double up when
fasting while body building. Unfortunately, fasting while working out leaves you prone
to low blood sugar and dehydration.
You can fast while drinking water, or even coffee.
Coffee is worse than water. It dehydrates you, and you shouldn’t dehydrate yourself
while working out.
You can do intermittent fasting during the day and only eat at night.
That slows down your metabolism. All types of fasting do.
I’ve heard of guys fasting in the morning when they work out. Then they have a full
meal.
That’s more a matter of delaying food for a few hours. Some runners jog a few miles
before breakfast.
They burn more calories that way.
No, they just don’t get sick by running a few miles right after a large meal.
After the workout, you can chow down.
Just don’t pig out or the fasting was all for naught.
