For the first time in league history,
a woman has been elected to an NRL franchise, and she's Maori.
It is Donna Grant, daughter of Sir Howard Morrison,
and she was elected by Owen Glenn, who has shares in the club.
Grant is a kapa haka expert and an avid league fan.
First of all, I'm a mother.
I am a Maori woman, and I am also from the wider Pacific.
I have skills in motivating youth and adults to stand proud.
I follow league. I've supported my sons Anaru and Hiwaroa in the sport.
I bring these skills on board.
Donna Grant attended the Warriors' game against the Roosters last week,
a game which they won, which is perhaps a good omen.
