Hey, Ashley Young, PGA Professional here at GlobalGolf.com.
In this episode of shop talk, we've got the new R11 fairway wood by TaylorMade.
First thing that sticks out is the white paint scheme, and I gotta tell you, the white paint scheme
on all the R11 products from TaylorMade this year have been extremely popular with our customers.
As you can see here, it's more of a matte finish, so it's not a glossy finish like
you see on a lot of black paint schemes on most other golf clubs,
so it--it's very much a reduced glare.
Really nice feature about this fairway wood is that with a white crown also
it has a black face and the advantage on that
is it enables you to align the golf club quite easily
If you turn around the club, look on the bottom,
on the sole plate, first thing that'll jump out at you is the new
adjustable sole plate which has a neutral position, closed position, and an open
position. And really what that allows you to do is if the clubface looks a
little shut, or a little open, you can adjust this plate with the wrench that TaylorMade
provides you with. It just fits into this
bolt here and you loosen it and make the adjustment
So, easy adjustment there if you wanted to appeal to your looks a little bit more.
Also, the flight control technology comes in the R11, which TaylorMade carries over
from last year. Basically, I've got a 3 wood here, it's 15 1/2 degrees
of loft
and with the flight control technology you can
increase the loft by 1 degree or
take it down 1 degree, and you can also go in 1/2 degree increments as well.
Just a word of note here: when you, for example, add loft to this club
the face angle looks a little bit more shut so that's where the adjustable
sole plate comes into play. You would then-- if you wish--open the club face a little bit
to give you the look that you want. So a very versatile golf club, a very popular golf
club from TaylorMade.
The new R11
has two shaft options--the non-TP version has a Fujikura Blur shaft,
and the TP comes with the
Fujikura Motore shaft.
A great new product: the R11 from TaylorMade. For more information on this golf club
