I visited Mitsuo Sato in Shichikashuku for the first time in September when it was still hot.
After meeting Ishitaro Sato, a master of Sumiyaki (charcoal making) he moved here with his wife in 1994.
Even after the quake, he continues to live in Shichikashuku, a town located at a riverhead and blessed with nature.
This is a record of his work making hard charcoal.

Burning charcoal involves a repetitive cycle of felling trees and burning them into charcoal every day.
Today Sato is felling trees in the neighborhood.
The problem is the fuel filter. As it spun too fast, cut wood crashed into the filter and was blown out.
OK. It's fixed.
- I can keep doing my job, can't I? - Yes. Please.
Hi, my boy! Has mum gone?
- What? - Has mum gone?
- Not yet! - I see.
- Hey! Watch your head! - Alright.
(The boy is singing a tune.)
Lay them in order, not at random.
