Hi, I'm Ben, one of iContact's Customer Acquisition reps,
and these are iContact's Top 3 ways you can reduce the number of spam complaints
associated with your email marketing messages.
Nobody likes email spam, unless you're a spammer.
And you're not a spammer are you?
Are you??
I didn't think so.
Unfortunately, oftentimes people hit the Spam button, thinking it works the same way as
the "Unsubscribe" button.
>> TALKING EMAIL: "Wait, don't click the spam button, I'm a real email...
REALLY!
Aaaah!"
>>BEN: [Clears throat] Anyway, here are the top 3 ways you can minimize your spam complaints.
At number 3, make sure you include a permission statement with your email list sign-up form.
The statement should specify what kind of content you're sending
- whether they're coupons, tips and tricks, or other content -
and the frequency with which they can expect to receive email from you.
This permission statement should also be included
in any subscription confirmation emails you send to new contacts.
At number 2, make sure you are providing subscribers with relevant content.
In other words, make sure you are sending people the type of information
you said you were going to send in your permission statement.
And don't just keep sending the same information over and over and over again.
People will get bored and click the spam button.
>>TALKING EMAIL: "Aaaah!"
>>BEN: And the number one thing you can do to reduce spam scores
is to update your iContact campaign with a FROM NAME and FROM EMAIL ADDRESS
that is instantly recognizable to subscribers.
You only get one chance to make a good inbox impression,
and many people will flag an email as spam,
without even opening the email, if they don't recognize the sender.
To update your campaign information, open your account dropdown list, and choose CAMPAIGNS.
And that is iContact's Top 3 for the week.
