>> [Background Music] Thursday, March 28th,
marked another TEDxYorkU event.
The theme was Tentanda Via.
And in keeping with that focus, speakers shared their innovative
and inspiring stories regarding their journeys.
>> Mike Prosserman: Mike Prosserman AKA "Bboy Piecez".
I'm the Founder and Executive Director of Unity Charity.
And I'm the host for TEDxYorkU.
So far the talks have been incredible.
I was really inspired by Danielle's talk about some
of the stuff that's going on in communities.
I was also really inspired by Sam's talk around his own story
and some of the things that he went through that inspired him
to really make a difference in his own community.
There's some really exciting speakers coming up.
We have some break dancers.
I'm excited to get down.
It's going to be fun.
I'm going to be dancing myself.
And all sorts of really great talks coming up.
So check it out.
>> Not only did the audience enjoy some great performances,
there was also a variety of speakers
from all over the spectrum.
>> Ross McMillan: What TEDxYorkU is all
about is really bringing the passion that we have
at York University and the stories that we have here,
and sharing those to the world.
There's so much going on, and this is really just a platform
for people, our students, faculty, community members,
alumni to share those visions and those ideas.
And have a wider audience for them.
>> Isaac DeSouza: Well, I had a really great time here at TED.
I got a chance to kind of spread the word a little bit
about the exciting things
that are happening in space right now.
How we're still moving forward
and great things are coming our way.
>> Well, I really liked the idea of changing definitions.
I was really excited to hear some of the speakers
like Danielle and the way that he kind
of talked about that idea.
You know, changing charity into care
because that's really what it's all about.
It's about like getting down to the definition.
When you say something, what does it mean?
And then how do you make the most out of that.
>> Zemina Meghji: It's been really fun.
And it's been great to be able to work with some
of the speakers that have been speaking here at TEDxYorkU.
They're such an inspiration.
And it's great to see how many different ways a path can
be tried.
And it's just interesting to hear all the different stories
and different life experiences.
>> Overall, the day was a huge success.
And people were left with a feeling of optimism,
inspiration, and hope for the future.
