Warning what you are about to see may look extremely fun
And It is But make sure you’re 21 before consuming
alcoholic beverages College, it’s a time to experience new things,
meet new people, learn about the real world, and of course party!
College students around the country drag through the week with one thought on their mind, the
weekend. Some students don’t even have the patience to wait until Friday, so they kick
the weekend off on thirsty Thursday. They drink for all kinds of reasons, stress,
social pressure, the party itself, or maybe because they have the freedom to do so. For
many young people this is their first time away from home so parental control is slowly
replaced with loss of self control and rebellion. But the stereotype that all students drink
just isn’t true. After reviewing the National College Health assessment for the University
of Louisville the result were shocking. Results showed the only 62.1% of students drank once
a month, that’s almost 30% less than the 97.1% that students on campus perceived to
be drinkers. We asked students on campus for their opion on how often kids here drink.
Psh 85 ish 90 maybe About 80… 3
Probably around 85% I’d say over 50. About 60. I’m just going
to say a large amount Like 80
As you can see students here think that everyone like to drink, but no one likes to drink alone.
We decided to follow one group of students on a typical Friday night for them. They played
the regular drinking games like Beer Pong, the alltime favorite. Kings, a game where
rules very from group to group. And flip cup, a high-energy game. As well as a few we’ve
never heard of, like drunk driver, a game involving Mario Kart, not real cars. All of
them designed to get you drunk, however besides getting you drunk they bring people together
and strengthen friendships. These guys really know how to have a good time.
But never Drink and drive. Did you know that at .3% blood alcohol concentration death is
possible? But that doesn’t mean that’s the limit, in Kentucky the limit for blood
alcohol concentration is .08%. Beyond this limit you maybe charged with public intoxication.
Of drinker at UofL an estimated 71% had a BAC of .10 or higher the last time they drank.
34.3% of students did something they regretted. 30.6% forgot where they were or what they
had done.
