Hello. My name is marioKarrion from Bandito Gaming
and this the Weapon Analysis of the AS-VAL Personal Defense Weapon
The Special Automatic Rifle, or in short AS-VAL is a Russian Personal Defense Weapon available
to all kits in Battlefield 3.
With a magazine capacity of 20 or 30 rounds when using the extended magazine excluding
the 1 in the chamber and supporting the automatic and single shot
fire modes only, this weapon is meant to be used in the medium
range, although to me it performs better in the close range
The AS-VAL is unlocked automatically at Rank 45
It's the second fastest PDW in the game, its bullet distance is the highest, it's the
fastest to reload when there are bullets in the magazine and it has the lowest left horizontal
recoil in this weapon's category
This PDW sounds really great right? Well, not everything is perfect, it has the slowest
speed, the damage is the third lowest and the vertical recoil is the highest one.
This weapon is kind of unique and special, it reminds me a lot of the FAMAS, to be honest.
Yes, it is not the fastest PDW, but still is really fast if you compare to the other
PDWs, the problem in the beginning with this weapon is the ammo capacity. Since the damage
is really low and the ammo is not too high you basically need to empty your magazine
to get a kill.
This was done clearly in purpose, because in order to unlock the so useful extended
magazine you have to kill 200 enemies, and it happens to be the last unlockable attachment
for this weapon.
In other words you have to make sure you reload when there's still a bullet in the magazine,
always.
You need to take advantage of its fastest reloading speed otherwise you won't survive
consecutive gunfights.
I really like this weapon because it integrates by default the suppressor, to me this weapon
and the recon kit are perfect for flanking enemies, taking objectives and placing your
beacon close to the action.
My biggest complaint with this weapon is clearly the time it takes to unlock the extended magazine,
but again, not having the extend magazine available too early helps you to control the
way you use your weapon and overall understand when and how to shoot it.
The AS-VAL and the Suppressed M1911 or the 93r, are practically the best secondary weapons
I can recommend, mostly because the first one has the biggest damage in pistols, excluding
revolvers of course, and the 93r is the best in case you have to engage multiple enemies
after the magazine of your AS-VAL is empty.
The vertical recoil is the worse in PDWs, but still I don't think that makes a huge
difference, it's easy to control and you get used to really quickly.
I recommend using this weapon with the Recon kit if you're playing an objective based gamemode,
like Rush or Conquest, or if you are playing something more like Conquest Domination or
Team Deathmatch then using Support would work better for you.
I like the AS-VAL a lot, it is probably, one of my favorite weapons in the game.
If you haven't used it, you are clearly missing out
