You are listening to an Ayrshire College podcast for LGBT History Month.
My first lesbian experience, well, it all started when I applied to work in Woolworths.
Me and a few other people applied to work there, one of them being a guy called Clive.
He was a comical guy, so much fun to be around. Me and Clive ended up becoming really close
and going out and getting drunk every weekend. Our weekend was Thursday, Friday, Saturday
and Sunday. Then one day, he said 'is it okay if one of my friends comes out with us?' and
I was like 'of course it is', not knowing that his friend would end up being my first
girlfriend and also my first true love. We met up at his house for a few drinks and
then his friend Roxy came to join the party. She was cool, but at this point I was straight.
Half way through the night, Roxy asked for my number so I said 'yeah, of course', and
about a half hour later I received a text saying she thought I was fit, and she wanted
to kiss me. I politely said to her 'I'm sorry, I'm straight'. Her reply was 'Oh well, you
blew it'. It came to the end of the night and I got home. That text kind of got me thinking
- I thought 'hold on a minute, why do I feel like I really want to kiss her?' so I text
her and said 'I think I want to kiss you too'. So the next night when I got to her house
the butterflies were driving me wild, and I'd never felt like this before. It was all
new to me and I didn't know what to say or what to do. I asked if she wanted to have
a drink, hoping that it would take the butterflies away, and after a few it did. Half way through
the night I managed to build up the confidence to kiss her and that's when my whole world
turned upside down. After we were together for a few months I realised that no guy could
make me feel the way Roxy did; no guy had made me feel so special.
