Hi! My Name is Thomas, and this is Jamie and Uncle Ben's Search for a Food Tube Star
Right, Today we are going to be using; of course, some lovely rice
You're also going to need this sausage
In Sweden, We call it Falukorv, and its basically, How can i say, a luncheon meat type sausage... You'll see later!
Also, going to need, a couple of onions... some tomato pureé
Maybe one of these, one clove of this garlic...
and some parsley!
Aswell as the usual, salt, pepper, and a bit of water...
Okay, First things first, we are going to put the rice on...
In goes the water...
and the rice.
We use 60 grams per person
Once the rice is on... we set that aside...
It takes 8 to 10 minutes
OK! Now the fun stuff! We start by chopping an onion. You need one large onion or two medium onions for this
Take this skin off... Oops, its blow away... Bit windy today!!
One we have done that.. Prepare the onion. Take the end off... Throw that away. On the compost heap :)
And the we just dice it as usual
Once that's done... just put it aside in a bowl
Right. Next up.. we just going to take the onions. Fry them off. I've got a little bit of oil in here...
Right we've got our onions on. Toss these around...
I want to get them so they are nice and golden brown and really tasty
Right. Next, We am going to take this peculiar looking sausage. It is a actually sausage! Really common in Sweden. Over there, they call if Falukorv.
It comes from a specific place in Sweden. People are very proud of it, and with good reason... It is really tasty
To prepare it... We just simply take the ends off
The chef's dogs treats!
You want to take your knife and cut it in half.
and then you need to peel of this skin... just in like that
This skin isn't edible... so just chuck it away!
Next we want to slice the sausage. There is quite a few ways of doing this. Ask any mother, grandmother, dog and they will tell of a different way he or she like it.
Don't need to be fancy at chopping... any way will do.
Just do the same with the other half of the falukorv... and then we will carry on
As you can see now, they are starting to get a bit of colour. Starting to look a bit nicer
They looked a bit pale, and insipid before
starting to get a bit of colour... keep those going. Back on the heat
Now we've got a bit more color on them, what we are going to do, is going to add back in the onions
Just toss that up a bit
Next, we're going to go in with the tomato purée. Going to put that it
then mix all then up... then a drop of water goes in
Ok. A little time has passed... the sauce has reduced really nicely
Look amazing! Smells amazing! I wish to could smell it right now...
Ok now... fishing touches. I am going to add some salt and pepper. A little bit of salt and pepper is always good
and... some cream
Right. Our lovely sausage stew has been reducing now, with the lovely cream, garlic, and the tomatoes. The smell is fantastic
We're pretty much done now. All we have to do next it just taste it, see if he needs a bit of seasoning, a bit of salt, a bit of pepper. And then we are done... ready to eat!
We're going to start plating it now... I have a nice bowl here.
lovely rice we cooked earlier
and then we just take our lovely stew. Look at that! It looks fantastic!
Just take that...
Finish it off with a bit of parsley
And there we have it... My Swedish Sausage Stew!
