Fifteen-year-old Madeline from Port Augusta recognized the importance of
driving safely and wanted to spread the message to her friends
so Maddy decided to make a short two minute film about the dangers of drag
racing at traffic lights to enter in Girlfriend magazine's 'are you an actionista?'
competition;
and also educate everyone else her age on this serious topic...
So Maddy,
tell us about your award-winning short film. "My short film was about unsafe driving
and to show teenagers how easy it is to lose everything."
So why did you make this short film? "I decided to enter the competition to help
educate others and the prize was really good to!"
The moving video has since received national acclaim winning Girlfriend magazine's
'are you an actionista?' competition. Maddy's short film was chosen out of
hundreds of entries for its creativity and more importantly, the messages it portrayed.
What were you hoping to portray in the video? "I hope my film can help younger
drivers to be safe on the roads." Why are you so passionate about road safety?
"I'm passionate about road safety because it's
terrible to think how many young people are involved in accidents."
Do you think your short film will help others be safer on the road? "I hope
my video influences other people to drive safely
as I tried to put a lot of effort into making it seem as realistic as possible."
Madeline is only fifteen years old but when she applies for her Learner's Permit she
already knows the importance of staying safe on the road. You can watch Maddy's
entire video on the mylicence (mylicence.sa.gov.au) website.
