david naquin shell addition dot com
welcome to the david package so i think by this point most of our audience has
heard president barack obama has won re-election
he won it handily he wanted by the exact margin that one of the three of us
predicted yesterday
which one
we'll talk about that in a little bit
coming up with a stated
well you know that you're using obviously after all our
so let's start with the very beginning here ladies and gentlemen we have
overall results here
that tell us number one
president bo bomb up
number two
the actual pollsters who were doing legitimate polling
work basically right
and those right wing pollsters who insisted that
pennsylvania and michigan and wisconsin and all of these blue states we're going
to be in play for mit romney
were incredibly rock
what does this tell us about the polling
this have to suggest that next election hopefully people will remember
you just can't trust some pollsters they'd just
and yet it's not paying attention to them
they're going to be there anyway and because they're so closely associated
with
uh... certain media outlets media outlets that will presumably still be in
place or around the next election you'll be unavoidable
i'm glad mit romney is done and we don't have to deal with the threat of such a
vastly incompetent man
as the president of the united states it turns out when you have an illegitimate
candidate the electorate apparently does have a way of shutting the whole thing
down
bottom-line mitt romney was a losing proposition for republicans
he was a losing proposition for the country
and unless he believed the nutty pollsters he never really had a chance
although you certainly don't know that when you're getting all sorts of
misinformation from the right to you
not at all we finally found a house
that was too expensive
even for mit romney to buy his way into you
very funny
very clever uh... i mean it's it's better for romney honestly the white
house doesn't even have a car elevator as far as i know
you could have one installed
my favorite clip and this at wheaton we could do an hour on all of the
outrageous smog
right wing predictions for this race but the only one i want to call your
attention to is a recent one which i found particularly
putting which was *** morris
saying
it's just going to be a sweep it's gonna be incredible what mit romney does he's
just gonna dominate
three hundred three hundred and fifty three hundred even on a liberal vote is
going to act
here is that clip
of *** morris
making that claim
and this is with on the bill o'reilly show
and are
i'd idon't know why *** morris is particularly distasteful to me lewis
but uh... but he is something about him
is particularly distasteful let's get a look at some of that video that he had
stuff tried
so you unsure
for repudiated your time spot
ya and let me let me go through the numbers 'cause it's important for people
to get yes it's important for people to get why i'm going to
make up something completely false and be proven to be completely wrong on
election day forward to a study cure let let's take a look
all right at the time says obama's can win by one
but this samples has seven points more democrats than republicans all turns out
that's not the case it turns out that brocco bomber
is apparently going to win florida we're still waiting for the final results
continue *** please inspire us with your incredible analysis of why the
right wing
uh... media really knows what the election results will be pollster john
mclaughlin and i went through the actual results of the last four elections and
on average
the republicans had one percent more than the democrats have so that pose off
by a factor of eight not solicit unabomber winning but wasn't there when
i say
the polls are bhaiya back there of a
if multiple state standard deviations off in the reality turns out the poll
was about right
and hold more small was dead wrong downtown let me just isn't about that
the reason why the polls right
is because they just ask people what party do you still fight and a financed
and that's something that's fluid it changes over time so
and anyone snapshot when people say
if thirty eight percent of the people who answered the survey said that
they're democrats
that doesn't mean that they're over understating how many democrats are
gonna show but just means that the people they're gonna vote
self-identified away
absolutely love continue
one romney woodwinds florida by seven
in ohio
uh... obama is shown as winning by five in the times poll but they had eight
points more democrats than republicans and historically there were only two
points more deals than orchestra so that six points off some set of romney losing
by five he wins ohio by one yep bethlehem in virginia they have obama
winning by two
but they have eight points more democrats than republicans and
historically is one point more republican than democrat
that's off by a factor of nine romney wins ohio bright woodwinds verging on by
sending an estimate it will take it was a little bit and let me know how it this
is the bill o'reilly program and somehow this guy zoological on here and say
abroad who's gonna win florida by seven
and uh... and and virginia by how much by eight or by nine in this case just
nonsense that's nonsense and everybody knew it but they're talking about it
like this is reasonable and his bill reilly had any sort of follow up with
listen
uh... here's my question
cannot holster
assume that all democrats and all republicans are going on board for
whoever's running in a party can you can use soonest certainty
yes you can u he'd get about ninety percent uh... voting for their parties
so he can't fits the independents who split
but what the new york times is doing
is that taking a poll
that probably be is initially accurate
i'll bet that all three of those polls sure romney etc out i think it if this
is nonsense he went on to say that romney was gonna have three hundred or
something out for a vote that didn't happen and that's the case
not everybody was this ridiculous though at least not after the fact
here is newt gingrich this morning on c_b_s_
saying we got it wrong and includes *** morris's *** morris got it wrong i got
it wrong
we got it wrong
problem in the same bluntly we were wrong
uh... when karl rove michael barone
*** morris olwen group of us frankly misunderstood was acting in the country
yet you know and i think that what was happening the country in the sense that
the average of all polls predicted this race exactly
and you just chose not to believe that right and what it what it would mean
they didn't understand what was happening in this country
isuzu choosing not to believe it or suggests
trying to use different data that might not be accurate data that doesn't exist
except in their mind to rethink that they were making this up do we think
that they just
it didn't want to believe it surveyed the room for anything
give them an excuse to say the ronnie my wind i don't know how you know what's
interesting about this whole thing this is really just part of the republican
rejection of backs you can imagine
is romney had one if
republican presidents would win in the next twelve to sixteen years and gap in
thirty years you have newt gingrich at you know a hundred and forty
saying uh... you know we just got this all wrong with global warming is after
we were just totally wrong on what was going on in the country window now
suggesting that knee deep in water
let's go to some of the calls of the election here it is wolf blitzer on
c_n_n_ making that call
uh... a call that was uh... really i'd think big drama in the sense that we can
tell about ninety minutes before this call exactly what direction things were
going in
however c_n_n_ in many networks using understandably to make a dramatic and
here it was from wolf blitzer on c_n_n_
another four years because we've rejected will carry the state of ohio
by carrying ohio he wins re-election the president of the united states defeats
is naturally
we have made this projection for the president
vista
for the white house they're excited so there was a man of course we have to see
what happened on fox news right
my thought yesterday was a president obama's re-elected
i'm gonna be watching fought them and we should almost canceled the show and just
run foxnews that'll be the show today just seeing what fox news is doing
let's take a little bit
here's the announcement
from fox news about the big win for president of the home of the big losses
for fox news
and a lot of their cronies and funders and right wing rich guys so on and so
forth let's take a look
uh... before the state
uh... hello hi o and now as we told you
foxnews has projected that brought about a has won it and fox news
is projecting echohawk obama
had been reelected as president by the united states
at mit romney's pass it to the presidency has now been foreclosed with
a lot of ohio because now we can project that bronco obama will win hya law
and foreign
uh... the state of iowa will go to president obama ephemeral in a number of
other fifth also there does from fox news
will get into all the parties if you look with occasionally we let's quickly
look at the presidential result we've got about
a uh... roughly a two point five it's gonna take a little while to come out
about a two point five million vote
popular advantage for president of baba
on the eletropaulo tata i would ask you to put up
mind map
as well as the official results map
but it turns out that
they are one in the same because my prediction assuming that florida hold
for the obama lead was exactly right state-by-state lewis
thank you for coming here congratulations i do appreciate it
and uh... you honestly were also happy for you there were really only four this
is a bill that we had three cid three likely scenarios on this show
it just so happened that i pick the one that that ended up happening
uh... but they were really only a handful of realistic scenarios
now if you believe the republican polls
so we're just the republicans about polls the don't even exist there were a
number of of uh... additional scenarios but really looking at actual at median
and mean poll data
there were only a handful of possible scenarios involving florida ohio and
virginia
north carolina maybe colorado new hampshire maybe
it just so happened that my prediction held and that it was one hundred percent
accurate louis congratulations david thank you but i don't really think that
big a published i mean greater time we were really all just
from the likely scenario
yeah i mean honestly real clear politics had an average of the polls in each
state and they on the day of the election the last predictions from the
last poll showed the exact result that you got
so um... fortunately we can say that math one math one uh... you know what
going back spend evidence win's going back to bill clinton's are d_n_c_ speech
it turns out it is about the arithmetic and just simple numbers in addition
their dads
we're still waiting for the numbers in florida we have a hundred percent
counted and president of bombing is ahead i guess we're just waiting for
something to make it official but it does appear that this is a
of resounding victory for president obama at least in the context of how
american elections work still only
a couple of points percentage point in the art of pro uh... popular votes
separating these individuals now
boxes
you had a disagreement with karl wrote the sooner they called ohio karl rove on
that network listening on the panel
so that i don't agree with the call you guys are making
it was fascinating television ladies and gentlemen it was fascinating to see the
right wingers just completely lose their minds they start arguing with each other
karl rove arguing with fox news
i love it
let's look at the video bill downs
about the call that's been made by us and i guess other networks about ohio
they do not believe that ohio is in the obama camp i've just got an email from
eight top
on a person i said do you agree with that police have not really you went
through this in two thousand you almost went through it in two thousand four
do you believe that ohio was that the south
no one doubts or you're not saying that a lot like isn't it a little your
details on it yes i think this is premature we at seven
we got a quarter of the vote and receive a call saying but
if you look at some of these counties that are still left out there if there
are votes a lot of those
left for obama but a little time is going to be believed to have been
completely ought to be careful about calling plans
when we have like nine hundred ninety one votes separating the two candidates
in a quarter of the vote yet again now i have to admit when the book at one point
after ohio had been called for president obama and therefore the election had
been called the president obama
the ohio vote counts switched
to having mit romney ahead slightly i admit i got a little nervous at that
point
that i thought it was abundantly clear that now that president obama was not
even going to need ohio
and then i went to bed
so that that was a little bit of a cancer but very funny guys to see
this in this big debate between between fox news is decision desk and karl rove
yes doesn't happen very often doesn't now it certainly does let me just a
moment that was interesting to scroll rolfe was trying to debate michael
barone later on that night
about this
previous incident that happened earlier
and that is just very clear that michael barone was just telling him the faxes
like look you look at the county's this is clear that it's a well-thought-out
projection and karl wrote was still saying that it was premature even though
the election was over the any election was over and karl rove was still trying
to basically bring it back eventually we got a concession speech from mit romney
i believe it was just before one a m eastern time
it was a very short concession speech
let's go to a little bit of that lewis please why don't we
but hack
and
factor highlight an
polit
do have that's scary
in his entire life
the second
best choice romney ever made was picking paul ryan to be his running mate
unless he's not gonna be making any more choices for this country because if
that's at the top of his list
we would have been in trouble got very very sincere is absolutely serious
trouble then let's go out skip ahead as a couple things i want to hit on here
from the speech let's go to the next point from the mit romney
concession speech here we go
risk partisan bickering in political posturing
our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people's work
and we saw this and it's also have to write to the occasion
with up to our teachers of professors we counted you not just to teach
but was far our children with a passion for learning in discovering kinda funny
that i thought i find it a little funny that he put in the teachers things
specially when one of the debates he started a cotton started an answer with
i love teachers and all but
which is not really a great way to start it's weird in such a short speech it's
interesting when we have five minutes
each thing you choose to include it's almost more significant right because
you have your more limited time to do it right right yet we do with the rhine
budget was done to education absolutely eligible that the other thing that it
just flatly goes against everything that they were proposing
and then last pop art from this this is the moment where mitt romney says
that he will be praying for obama
it really did not feel friendly i thought that this the entire speech was
pretty passive aggressive
but this particular moment took the cake for me
highs so wish that i have been able to fulfill your hopes to leave the country
in a different direction
but the nation shows another leader
and so and i join with you
took earnestly pray for him and for this great nation value has obi-wan needs
your prayer because he's so misguided
that may around these prayer
was and that ronnie de la jolla ready to help obama
because the mormon church did posthumously baptize
was it was president obama's grandmother i believe right woohoo which was at the
time
i can remember but whatever it was there was hialeah moral yeah habitat that we
know for sure
so we know the morality of mit romney's prayers going to be really helpful thing
for the president wanted rather mit romney preach praying for the president
and his june the act that's absolutely right
let's go to a little bit of president obama's victory speech which read about
twenty three minutes it happened very very late i think a close to two a m
eastern time ended
success
have to be fixed
for the very first time
hollow the
the
but extra
corporate
the
dot blots domicile
you make your forrest sawyer
argument
a salt lick dot on the air
i congratulated alright hard-fought campaign
both of course filled with lies and distortions and personal attacks was
personal it was certainly hard-fought absolutely for president obama had a
good speech you referenced
uh... gate marriage in marriage equality
he referenced at education i mean the time it was a wide-ranging speech really
hitting a lot of progressive points
yeah i thought it was a great speech uh... he didn't have the baggage that he
had
when he gave the acceptance speech in a way in terms of the economy being in the
tank
so overall i'll use more relaxed he knows he's not running for reelection
again
ever again
so uh... i think that he's gonna have a good four years out of let's touch on
the right wing tip equivocation that took place let's put up the first in
which we can do these full-screen the time that would be great if we're
prepared for that
the first drudge report hadline i started taking screenshots of drudge
report as soon as the election was was no longer in play
there it was instead of saying president obama has one
simply keeping up his splash that shows that
mit romney at that time was ahead
in the popular vote using to keep that up for a long time let's go to drudge
report to down the time
the divided states of america this is the idea now from the right will listen
obama won
but it was such a small margin that were really divided right because we were
divided when george w_ bush
lost the popular vote
and assume the presidency right
uh... and then fox news of running a headline
obama wine
but not with a mandate and then foxnews running
romney classy
obama
negative and then here's a quote from glenn beck that i like on president
obama's victory
if americans are so dead on the inside that they can no longer tell the
difference
between good and evil
we have to be destroyed because we will be remarkable eva levine cup on this
planet
the dramatics louis so we're going back to are are are running high more
despicable nonsense from from glenn beck who is one of the most evil people i can
think of it
had to be perfectly honest
because of the
election win we are doing our biggest membership special ever lewis we are
doing he gave it happened show hoodie sweatshirt plus a one-year membership
for forty percent off
david patten dot com slash
twenty twelve wins
slash twenty twelve wins forty eight hours special we want you aboard david
packing dot com slash twenty twelve wins will take a break we'll talk about the
house will talk about the senate much more beijing
david that's you know
at david padmini dot job
welcome back to the david fashion show welcome back to the show it's great to
have everybody who's with us on the you tube live stream including everybody
from the we survive bushy will survive all obama face book page as well as the
i love it when i wake up in the morning
and brocco bomber is president face book page that facebook page will be able to
continue
for an additional
four years louis incredible stuff
please become a david packard remember i wanna say hi to a very special new
member today made possible in part by liberal bias dot com he knows i was
thinking people always talk about liberal arts colleges but there's no
conservative arts colleges
that seems really bias to me
that's really slanted young like that you can find out more about that at
liberal bias dot com today's new member of the day roger writing career
great to have roger rancor above
aboard on the membership program i'm hesitant because i think that possible
his last name greg pronounced
rancor
i turn over the rancor or rancor
in either case i apologize for the wrong pronunciation and take credit for the
correct one assuming that one of the two i used is correct in their only
i don't know what i said but i'm sure i meant that whatever it was when i said
at the time
i'm not going to have to deal with that anymore
not for rwanda for a little while let's talk about the house of representatives
the final split in the house of representatives after yesterday's
election will be
to thirty-two republicans to one ninety one democrats barring some last minute
uh... changes in election results
elected to congress in the house and senate
the first disabled woman
the first openly lesbian woman
the first aged woman
squibb binder full of women that that uh... congress has at this point is that
certainly still going to be they could certainly be one that's presented to mit
romney with a cherry on top
i'm sure you're drove we throw it out
nadi alan west
appears to have lost an essay appears to have lost a good with a hundred percent
of the votes counted
he's losing
i think it's on it is so close that it will either trigger some kind of
automatic recount river view is that correct right they're not projecting a
even though was is losing so much to me you can either do a recount or just
uh...
project that later today at some point i would love it when maddy rate winners
get in on a fluke for one-term and that are promptly booted out i'd really like
that that is nicer resumes one hell of a term that michelle bachman one
narrowly
if michele bachmann had been booted out of their it would have just been even
more confirmation that this right wing ninety social policy
it's just not gonna fly anymore and we'll talk more about that later too
i think it's going to take uh...
few more years for people with her to be completely phased out
tammy duckworth the first disabled woman won over former deadbeat dad joe walsh
joe walsh is a particularly unsavory character there in the house of
representatives
and it gives me great pleasure to see replaced by
really but true american hero
in every sense of the word and a n advocate
progressive causes i can't think
of a better result
than having to wash with the county duckworth let's be honest even if he
were replaced by a vacuum cleaner it would be a huge improvement
directly absolutely right
in the senate
democrats keep control of the senate now i want to be very clear here
we had a unimportant race here in massachusetts and we can not minimize
the important of producer lewis's vote
in elizabeth warren's defeat
of scott brown lewis we need to congratulate you on your vote
baton would you like the fainting collapse
absolutely ended just
uh... a further point on that yesterday we saw a lot of people at the polls as
we talked about yesterday no doubt a lot of them were fired up to get reduce
copper round and bring elizabeth warna anti-violent say i would argue in part
because of louis voting
definitely there was a huge chunk of that
is it fair to say midget just me being there uh...
fomented some fervor
all i think i think louis may be responsible for scott brown a lot of
being in the senate of course nobody knew whether you whether or not until
have proposals polls were halfway close but richer actively
in the same way that some people retroactively retire from jobs they're
politically inconvenient to have held the pirates right to be one that was
before the election exactly evaded really i'll take credit for them other
key races tammy baldwin over tommy thompson in wisconsin
first openly gay update senators and lesbian woman
joe donnelly over
god-given rate richard murdoch in indiana and clama casco over legitimate
*** oddity can i have to say
if not for tadi kan
we may have had vastly different results in the house and senate because
we really were able to call attention because of the god-given raven
legitimate rake up rate comment for this type of nonsense
yeah the
really hurt themselves no question about it
let's talk about the state propositions nutan let's see if we can put up our
graph it would be great if this can go full time
this is an exactly it we have an image which popped up inadvertently in the
last segment
which actually outlined at the map of all the state propositions there is
so this will be impossible for anybody to see
and i know that in advance so so i'll just give you some of the highlights
maryland and maine became of the first in yesterday's election to legalize
same-sex marriage
by popular vote
colorado and washington passed
legalization of personal marijuana usage with mba number of different
restrictions in colorado that was amendment number sixty four
marijuana for recreational
use
this is interesting not because i dangers of smoking marijuana but because
we are finally starting to get
real change i mean ladies and gentlemen we are will make the case later
were about to push the boulder over the hill here
untrue progressive change
and these propositions the state propositions
the presidential race hugely important
the senate inkatha congressional races hugely important
but this just a pop propositions when you have states voting by popular vote
for the first time to say
we're not gonna discriminate against gay and lesbian couples
this is progress this is the definition of progressive the word progresses in
their listen this is progress yes this is this is
big-time social progress
and also um...
on the marijuana and two things
we really need to end the war on drugs absolutely huge steps there is it's so
expensive and ineffective and and idiotic
i'd just don't think the average person realizes
if we were to have
reasonable defense cuts that don't endanger this country in any way
maybe not fifty bases in germany
but me we keep thirty eight
and we have legitimate changes
to the war on drugs
the economic impact of that is huge forget about big bird and elmo and
whether burton ernie or a couple are not in what that does to your return return
on investment in the dow jones industrial average
forget about all that stuff
we're not in huge numbers here its nest for most people most people don't get it
yeah we don't think we have to talk about entitlements uh...
for a very long time if we were to make cuts like that
we're gonna talk about with the marijuana stuff what is the sales in
other words in colorado once this is an active
what will this do did this catch u marijuana buying on the corner and
alleys and stuff like that and the liberal this is a
this is the quote newt gingrich
a fundamental paradigm shift
in the entire contact surrounding drugs
yet you can you imagine your local police officer or state trooper
actually worrying about important things other than someone handing you a dime
bag in a most local park around the corner
david packard dot com slash twenty twelve wayne
forty eight hour special where for forty percent off will give you a one-year
david packard show membership with all the benefits that comes with
and the david packard show that he made from one hundred-percent recycled
materials together
forty percent off but you've got a great day the pacman dot com slash twenty
twelve wins
there's never been a better time to do it
progressive independent media
will be the driving factor for the next four years for real progressive change
let's take a break
we still have to talk about so much more
including are people who didn't vote eighty it's someone on msnbc thinks
estatehood play more coming up
the david had mentioned and david jacqueline dot com
welcome back to the david adventure welcome back to the show one quick
correction earlier i indicated that have involved with the first l_ jean beatty
member of congress of course that is not correct barney frank was
she is the first of g_d_p_ served barney frank was in congress and i did say that
he was the first
she was in congress as well she is the first algae bt senators and that is what
i want to uh... make lewis thank you
also to art let's not get everything rump barney frank was the first
openly gay orders and you know that we openly gay but we know there were many
gay members of congress before him yet what under two hundred thousand years
backpackers
the actors background longer than the universe is in their outbreak
by the way we just got word that we have a couple of republican pollsters that do
you still believe that never on the has a path to victory
tomorrow will be interviewing them to be an exclusive interview interview they're
gonna outline
exactly how metro i mean maybe able to win the twenty twelve election
i'm looking forward to donald trump went completely off the deep end last night
and he started tweeting a whole bunch of stuff i have a lot of it here
and he started saying once again our our nation is divided
our country is in serious and unprecedented trouble like never before
the election is a total sharman a travesty
we are not a democracy
let's fight like hell and stop is a great and disgusting injustice the world
is laughing at us
it's so funny because the guy has really
at one point he was kind of considered
eight a mainstream republican candidate but like someone that at least in the
context of what the republican primary election was
he would always be able to be in there and be considered
one of the people running
and then the birth certificates stuff
and now these ideas like that those of you realize that the world would have
been laughing at us if if
mitt romney had been elected we looked at the global polls
nobody wanted
mit romney to be the next president of this country he seems to not realize
that if if the world is laughing at anything going on here it's at him not
it now that the president obama graham he does get a few things right
who we are
a split country
yes okay
uh... i mean
it's just that his his contacts is wrong i mean we've been split for a for a very
long time now it's not
the alcohol the selection that that were incredibly polarized
hean brian williams started getting hit intuit brian williams commenting on the
donald trump sleep last night said that donald trump is on the passing the last
exit on the road to a relevance
and then donald trump's anything that we don't think
brian williams was never a smart guy but always passes himself office such people
will learn the truth
you know i actually thought donald trump explain described himself as what we
call projection right were very very familiar with that
okay chris matthews had a couple of controversial comments last night the
first one was that he said anyone doesnt voted eighty
that's number one let's take a listen to that
watching this show but it was about and as a direct transfer voters in hindi
this is the anyone who wants to sell any of these two little ones
dot all my love
and then what's this all night tonight on m_s_ but if you don't vote you're
idiots
because it is not only cellular i salute you feel good that you decided to vote
because otherwise chris matthews would be calling you in haiti
no because by my calculations there tens of millions of idiots who did vote
that's true in a bowl that's interesting
in the same way that not all republicans are racist but if you are american
racist pods are you are of republican
you are not you you aren't necessarily you can vote and still be in idiot right
work that's that's really the point where i disagree
uh... i think that uh... you can make a distinction between being an idiot
and doing something idiotic and no matter what not voting isn't idiotic
thing to do whether or not you're an idiot i get regards the distinction here
so you're not completely agreeing you're saying you
novel using idiotic
thing to do but it you might not be in eighty eight
okay so there is there's a difference and the other controversial chris
matthews quote from yesterday's they said he's actually glad for hurricane
sandy because he believes that helped president obama win let's take a look at
that
he just took it in childhood you're moving for you doing his job
and an emergent people and i know we look at this person is forty percent of
why bring buying that's about right among democrats most couple cycles
through cycles of four
good work for them could work for him i'm good day for america i'm so glad we
had that storm last week
presenting this storm was one of those things no politically i should say
hunters are hurting people the storm brought in possibilities for
to past harare it's not clear there were racial matter which is over with her
right hand if he's trying to get him to stop this insanity
what do you think of that i mean we talked about politically actually did
benefit obama so i don't disagree with in the thing is
the idea of saying i'm glad we have the storm seems a little bit crass
don't don't make it sound as if
we need strange things like that to happen for obama to have a shot i mean i
shouldn't be the point no question about as we know
look book allan lichtman with his thirteen keys predicted obama reelection
two years ago before debates before campaigns before hurricane sandy
before all that stuff
that's exactly right to prisoner these points
i mean it's politically incorrect to say so and obviously it would be better if
the storm hadn't happened but he is kind of poet touching on something that we
all think which is that
you know if possible that without the spirit came maybe romney would've
squeaked it out and
that would be really bad for the country i'm not saying that eyes grew chris
matthews but he is touching on something that we all think
we don't know there are a number of factors beyond our control which may
when we're talking about fifty thousand votes deciding states
any number of small things could have had an effect conscious of sub conscious
was the storm politically advantageous for the president
porter ricans op
for statehood in referendum porter rico maybe the fifty first u_s_ state
they voted in a non binding referendum which would require final approval
for from congress now here's the interesting thing
e out state governor from order rico was a pro state that individual
the new governor there
is knots
pro statehood however the vote has already passed it is now a question of
whether president obama believes that it passed by a big enough majority where's
statement can be certified or whether
congress will debate it
this is fascinating for a number of reasons number one
because for every go would be a blue state to do any of us disagree on that
also
because we have these issues of the official language
and we certainly would have to have a i'd assume that porter reco would have
to
let me put it this way
republicans are going to make a big stank
if porter rico is to be the fifty first state about what is the official
language it does everyone speak english
what is the story that were and any disagreements that the republicans will
make a language initiate no disagreements now i think they're going
to make it an issue but it should be pointed out that in border in government
local
uh... people do speak english and almost all of the documentation is in english
was there in english so
but not everyone
speaks uh... english but all of the politicians speak english so would be
that much of a change
let's be honest but what the english a lot of american elected officials is not
even really that good
the richer
so what's gonna happen
well we have the house dimensions down
i don't know it'll be interesting to see but i think the first state adding a
blue state could be pretty cool thing
over you know how i would have liberals will say for the republican wins and
moving to canada will sometimes republicans will say that but it's kind
of silly because canada is of course
uh... very very left-wing so now i a lot of twitter post started saying
republicans who are angry would be a bottle landed in a move to australia
of course it's just is ridiculous australia single-payer health care
they support obama nearly twenty
to one
very strict gun control laws of prime minister who was a fiesta single and
female
legal abortion
mandatory voting you get fined if you don't vote
a top tax rate of forty six percent which kicks in above a hundred and
twenty thousand dollar-a-year income
a mandatory medicare tax to pay for universal health care
i don't know if that's really the place for republicans to go i know model of
maybe they did their looking only at countries that speak english
but i don't think canada and australia good options and once they move to
australia to their horror there will be stacked in the face with insane
censorship laws
and probably uh...
probably not be able to savion saying things they can say over here myself
yeah are always that showed that the other three has a censorship issue
it's more in terms of uh... media like video games movies and things of that
nature they haven't seen
laws regarding censorship strick is what you're saying
well no i called insane ok one short
so not the place for republicans i think is what uh... what were making clear
let's take a break we'll come back we'll talk about what does this obama victory
mean long term for the progressive cause you not gonna wanna mess that segment
possible talk about a lot more stuff stated
jaded natasha
candied happened dot com
david jackson and she uh... ideally package i job his documents obtained
before president obama's victory could spell the and of a conservative supreme
court
for the first time
like forty years this has been
they've been cable on campaign by conservative until the last thing
majority on the u_s_ supreme court
if mitt romney had been elected that may have been a reality
with the election of president obama to a second term
we now have the possibility
depending on whether president obama point one two or three sipping court
justices and specifically which justices he's replacing
of actually having a liberal supreme court high one up
propose an idea
if we look at the progress that's been made over the last forty years
on everything from civil rights
including
uh... uh... racial equality
marriage equality etcetera
some of the progress on the war on drugs
all of the different things that we have made strides on in the last forty years
with a conservative supreme court
imagine what could happen if we finally get
a liberal supreme court we're talking about huge things here lewis
and it's pretty bad do we even have to frame it this way right
that we have to say well currently is a republican but we prefer
url liberal supreme court because it'll all rights it'll just be the law right
oldest should be aside write your political ideals should not be a play
not be a style
metal winnow
so this is a big deal
it depends on who gets replaced on the side of things
really uh... in order to shift the balance in favor
url va five to four liberal majority you would have to probably see sculley uh...
or anthony kennedy retire uh... repair ginsburg may retire soon but that's not
gonna have a net gain for the liberals so uh... but to happen what does this
election mean for the republican party as we know it i'd believes that this is
the beginning of the and for the republican party on a number of fronts
we just talked about the supreme court and the changes we make nation is here
demographic shifts
the republican party continues to depend
on white voters to push them to victory
the demographic shifts that
became a factor in twenty twelve
and will continue and will be even more pronounced in twenty sixteen
will make this
ultimate reliance on white voters not they winning strategy the numbers won't
work lewis
we will also continue to see the liberalization of policy
we talked about
colorado and washington legalizing marijuana
massachusetts voting yes on medical marijuana
we see more states now by a popular vote voting to legalize gay marriage this is
the direction things are going we may be getting to a pointless
with this is the perfect storm
to finally pushed out
these backwards
rediculous ideas based in certain groups and certain areas of the country
once and for all
and really start to move forward and catch-up on social policy
sit and fiscal policy in some senses in some senses at least on government
spending policy
so were many countries
already are
it's it's a huge opportunity we're definitely moving in the right direction
in this election is proof of that
they're still going to be opposition
the republican party's not gonna disappear nobody must change right and
it will still rugby opposition in the face of progress but i think uh...
we are moving the right direction it was funny to me when after the results were
announced last night for president obama winning re-election
we some pundits saying well in in this effort to be fair and balanced fair
fair bond biased whatever saying the republican party is gonna have to move
to the center but the the democratic party is also going to have to move to
the center that's not true
the democratic party is going to have an opportunity to move further to the left
as a result of the republican party having to move to the center
pushed out to the extreme right which is where the tea party and many others
would would actually have it this is an opportunity not for very that the idea
that now everybody moved to the center
presupposes
that it everything is just even but the egg the problem is we're seeing more and
more moves to the left in the state propositions that are better passing and
so on and so forth this is the moment not to move to the center
moving to the side of the worst thing the democrats could do at this point
it's time to move to the left
moving to the centers the best thing the republicans can do if they want a chance
that this thing relevant and they will
i had had some instead but that's just the idea i think that a lot of these
things
that were seen in uh...
state by state ballot measures like same sex marriage legalization of marijuana
are not actually leftist things that represent shifts in the country they do
represent changes of opinion but those should be traditional republican ideas
all the school republicanism was states rights it's hope people can do what they
want to do states decide what they do and this is exactly what that is doesn't
exist anymore
completely gone let's go to voice mail two one nine to david p call it twenty
four hours a day let's take a listen
he gave you your comment on liberty university
one comment
i think that's a good thing and and and and then come to the supreme court to
have a one-time perot
exactly work revere about exactly where they plan to discriminate yet
and pretty clear that to me that either
the court would have to
well they kept argue over
do you think liberty university will discriminate against people a higher by
paying we all know hire people there
by their would be made here is a good one which is it's liberty university
brings this
new argument against obama care on a religious basis to do all the way up to
the supreme court
they would have to explain well what exactly would you do or are you saying
you want to be able to to be discriminatory and hiring people who
would not want birth control to be covered by health insurance for example
it's a good point that's being made itis feel like now particularly with the
re-election of president obama
obon a care staying anne did you guys you guys disagree at all
fox news reporting on the black panther at the polling place
this looks at the video from two thousand eight nine twenty twelve i
wouldn't be surprised if fox news pulled up an old clip
mhm are about that
and maybe they are nervous because he looks militant if he was in khakis and a
button down shirt
i think it would be different we did talk about that and i said i'm no fan of
the new black panther party for it
uh... and
faith in you black panther you might as well have a member of the k_k_k_ infront
of a
polling place
you know what in some parts of the country i'm sure members of the k_k_k_
our election monitors no doubt about it for sure
david aquent dot com slash twenty twelve winds
data package of membership
