so the GOP is in a bit of a civil war though
what are the two different sides here one is that so-called Tea Party backing
the narrowly tea party they're just
extremist right-wing billionaires largely there's no you a grassroots is
about to show you
but they're in a fight with the the more quote unquote mainstream
Chamber of Commerce and multinational corporations so
they're no good guys in the story it's basically the Koch brothers versus
corporations that are taken over our government
and our lives so nobody's a winner
accept the fact that they're at least fighting so and waste the money yes each
other
now the guy who a loved the Citizens United decision was Mitch McConnell he's
the leader the republicans in the senate
and he's talking about how corporations and
an individual's be able to spend unlimited money
in politics is freedom
well turns out they have the freedom to spend against him
as well he's in a race right now where he's being primary number get him in a
second but for some give you the numbers
as to why citizens united has done some significant damage to
republicans now they get primary
far more than democrats to now logo overall I it's a put-down primary
process I wish the democrats on your primary to help a lot more
I run some real progress as the corpus democrats that we have
but of course that's not the way that system works so now
let's take a look at 2012 congressional primaries any begin the US has this
paired
in GOP primaries there was
$36 million dollar spent am in democratic primaries was only $10
million spent
meaning that the republicans are fight each other
too much greater degree n to some degree doing damage to one another now I think
in the meanwhile they're pushing policy all the way to the right
right so in some senses mission accomplished but in terms the public's
they're hurting each other sometime certain each other pretty bad in
spending money a lotta money to do so
in fact keep Dawson who's that chick
GOP chairman in South Carolina says right now republicans all had their
cannons into each other
and the democrats are getting a free ride well
%uh that's partly true now there are a number of conservative groups who
decided
you know what we're gonna go after fellow Republicans including Club for
Growth
and the Senate conservatives fund Club for Growth even has a website
that's called quote primary my congressman was so
her obviously the business of doing this significantly
now assisted citizens united
they've actually gotten a lot stronger and in
the 2008 cycle before citizens united they spent ten point three million
dollars
well after Citizens United took away
any restrictions on giving do groups like Club for Growth they wound up
getting twenty three point four million dollars in spending that in that cycle
so more than double their spending now
group icon for growth spurt ended their grassroots Tea Party groups or
super conservative right-wing groups like but it's crass reboot or just try
to represent the american people
is that right well let's find out washington post explains
more than 12 million dollars in the money the Club for Growth action raise
the last cycle came in the form of six
and seven-figure checks from donors such as
tech investor Peter Thiel private equity Titan John childs
New Jersey investor Virginia James and Texas homebuilder Bob Perry
who each gave at least one million dollars according to campaign finance
records
wow so grassroots more than half your money
comes from people giving million dollar checks
it a grassroots it says
fake as it gets its rich people saying now
I want even lower taxes an alas regulation
Obama banker let me Rob Moore and then if I get in trouble
make the taxpayers for if I'm a polluter let me pose loot more takeaway more
regulation
so not be checked on anything and I keep put it a by chemicals in the river or
whatever it needs to be
now the corporate guys are said hey listen case
we're pretty good at this win me over the last forty years
we've basically rob the american people blind whatever extra money they were
owed because of their gains in productivity
we took and put in our pockets the executives that the shareholders did
our investors did leave well enough alone
whether greedy can stop being re so
the Koch brothers the world in other guys who gave that money the Club for
Growth the Senate conservatives Panmure FreedomWorks
et cetera say no he I want even more
and that's who's fighting one another now in fact the second service books
bond is putting in a million dollars to help Matt
bevin Ron against Mitch McConnell in a primary
in Kentucky a million bucks they've already put that it
and they're not alone FreedomWorks that's the Koch brothers group
says waste time to bring out the vote
where they gonna put another five hundred thousand dollars to get out the
vote in favor mad bevin
if I'm right now these groups have ads out there
against Mitch McConnell where they say quote he helped Rocco bomb on Harry Reid
bondo bomb Mike year what's the what's that I hear which girl
you call for war pack what happened I I thought
money going into these races was three DUP
all the sudden one has money yes you're right well I mean I am
for Mina there was your money into politics
bad to be fair to Mitch McConnell he hasn't said that yet in fact he's
of course gone in the opposite direction I like how repaired or
I'm sure you are bigger pretty years he's argued in the culture in which is a
new Supreme Court case
that more limits should be lifted so the multi-core
national coverage is on his side can give more to the party's
in an unlimited way whatever restrictions were left
isn't I left those and let me fight against the Koch brothers
by getting Exxon Mobil and all other guys who got my back
to turn even a bigger cannon against them
and don't worry that cavalry is here
there's already now new group some or all summer new
go better founded by the corporations to go fight against the Tea Party
they're called American Action Network and Main Street partnership those are
two that are now Mac backing
night as Mitch McConnell but establishment republicans
they're funded there on my should say bye former congressman
like Stephen one lot to read and former senator like Norm Coleman
whose establishment Republican as you can get for Minnesota
and the second service one used to be run by jim DeMint who's a former senator
from South Carolina
so they were all found ways to milk the different rich people for money
the spending against one another in a war at Big Green
and finally the washington post explains
that corporations are going to take this lying down
they really want to be able to take their wings of the table here
explain centrist GOP group and industry organizations
such as the US Chamber of Commerce are firing back
laying plans to spend happily to bolster mcconnell
and other establishment Republicans well
the battle is joined and if
the Koch brothers when we all lose cuz we get even more extreme right-wingers
who will block government from doing anything for the people
they will be even more obstructionist they will not negotiate on
anything and they'll bring on one government shutdown after another
now if the chamber commerce in the multinational corporations when
well then they'll do things like the grand bargain where yes the government
will be running
but they will have bipartisan agreement from Corpus democrats and republicans
the cup things like Social Security Medicare that help us
in favor of corporate tax cuts
so yes there is a GOP Civil War and yes you'll see organizations like MSNBC
celebrated
but the reality is it's a lose-lose for us and the your money out of politics
the only people who can win are either the Koch brothers
or the Chamber of Commerce what certainly not the american people
there's only one way to fight back against both love
your money out of politics entirely you know who's doing that
wall dash back dot com
any way you can help man sign a petition become a volunteer
become a member Wolfpack dot com
is these guys then never gonna let up
so we gotta fight back just as hard
