It's only a very small percentage of birds that do actually swoop, and they're just trying
to scare off what they perceive as predators. Cyclists can try using a number of different
strategies to deter the birds from swooping. They can try using cable ties, or a pair of
eyes and sticking them on the back of a hat or helmet. And also if they're a pedestrian
they can try holding up an umbrella and walking quickly through the area. The best thing that
people can do is try and avoid the area where the nests are. People can visit DSE's website
and download a swoop off kit. The kit contains some handy tips and information, and also
a poster that people can print off and stick up in their local area where they know there
are swooping birds.
