my name is Tammy Chor
currently I'm working for the City of Sydney Meals and Wheels department
I'm Rosemarie Dela-Torre. I'm a City Ranger
I became a librarian
I think bascially because I love books
My name is John King
and I'm a garbage truck driver
my name is Helen Xiros and I'm the Youth Services Manager for the City of Sydney
I'm Rebecca Martin, we're here in Kings Cross
I manage the safe city unit at the City of Sydney
the best part is we can help people
because our clients include the elderly, people with disabilities
and they do need help
from us
There's a lot of good people here
over 18 years you form a lot of friendships and
it's just a great place to work
We've got a fleet of 11 buses
The other buses are hired out to the community. We help the elderly and frail, take them on day trips, stuff that the oldies like to do
Sustainable Sydney is our vision to make Sydney a green, global and connected Sydney
This is exactly why I wanted this job. It's about trying to change little bits of the city and eventually you reach a critical mass
Residents are invited to bring along
household hazardous chemicals
and put the in safe storage containers for safe transporting away
Members of the community that
don't necessarily always get a voice get to have a voice by talking with us and we
get communicate what they say
up to the Councillors and the Lord Mayor
We've got 6 youth centres across the City and they run vocation and recreational programs
The aim of the program is to really help them add value to their resume
and add additional skills to increase their employment opportunities
in the future
People who come in and
we've seen them grow up. Little boys I use to help with their homework
and now working as tutors and they come in to pick up books to help those they're helping
It doesn't matter where you work
whether you are a ranger, in cleansing services, childcare or events, you're helping to make this a much better city
for all of our residents, workers and tourists that visit our city.
