So in your other type of performance when you're performing with a chamber group, the
communications slightly different in that you're not communicating with one person unless
you are playing a duo. Typically you're going to be communicating with at least two or three
people when you're playing in a quartet and you have a Cello, Viola, two Violinists. If
you're one of the violinists, especially as the first violin. As the first Violinist,
you have to communicate with all the other members in a group. If you are the second
Violinist, you really just want to make sure that you're communicating with each member
as well. But if, when you are playing first Violin you really are the main communicator,
you are the leader so it's even more important for you to communicate. So in chamber music
it really is all about having a conversation with the other instruments and with the audience
as well. So ah, after you've been playing you know, by yourself for a while and giving
recitals and playing with an orchestra even from the very beginning. I was about, seven
years old when I actually joined my first chamber group and really giving yourself a
chance to play with others from the very beginning will help you as well not only develop as
a solo musician but with, as a chamber musician.
