Hello, and welcome back. I'm Joseph Hoffman.
Today we're going to do another rhythm game,
and this is so we can practice the rhythm we learned last time.
The half note.
We're also going to be reviewing the rhythms you've already learned.
Let's play.
I'm going to speak a rhythm, and then I'd like you to try to draw the rhythm.
You'll need to go to our website and download the rhythm cards so you can try
drawing the rhythm that you hear, and then I'll show you the answer.
Here's the first rhythm.
Remember that somewhere in this rhythm today I'm going to be using a half note,
So see if you can hear where the half note is.
Here we go.
[Speaking rhythms]
Listen one more time, then try to draw the rhythm.
[Speaking rhythms]
Push pause if you need some time, because I'm about to draw the correct answer.
Don't look at the screen until you have your answer ready.
If this is what you drew, then you are correct.
Let's say it with rhythm words.
Remember for the half note we say two,
and point to each beat while you say it.
Here we go. Two, TA, TA.
Good job. Here's a new rhythm.
[Speaking rhythms]
Listen one more time.
[Speaking rhythms]
Try to draw that rhythm.
I'll show the correct answer on the screen.
If this is what you drew, then you're correct.
Let's try saying the rhythm words.
Here we go. TI-TI, TA, two.
Now, can you point to the beats and do it by yourself?
Ready go.
Good work.
This time I'm going to make it even a little trickier by using four sixteenth notes.
Remember the sound these make is TIKI-TIKI TIKI-TIKI.
Then this time, there will note be a half note.
Here we go.
[Speaking rhythms]
Listen one more time.
[Speaking rhythms]
I'll draw the correct answer on the screen.
If this is what you drew, then you're correct.
Let's try saying it together.
Here we go. TA, TA, TIKI-TIKI, TA.
Now you try it by yourself and point to each beat with me.
Ready go.
Remember that music always has a steady beat.
So if you said it like this, that's not music,
and it's not a steady beat.
Remember that the speed that you say the rhythm is important in music.
TA's go a little slower, TIKI-TIKI's go faster.
It has to be steady like this. TA, TA, TIKI-TIKI, TA.
Now your turn. Ready, say it.
Good steady beat.
Now let's try one more rhythm.
This one will be the trickiest because I'm going to use sixteenth notes,
and I'm going to use a half note.
Let's see if you can get this rhythm.
Here comes the rhythm.
[Speaking rhythms]
Here it is one more time.
[Speaking rhythms]
I'll draw the correct answer on the screen.
If this is what you drew, then you're correct.
Let's say it together. Point to the beats with me.
Here we go. Two, TIKI-TIKI TA.
Now you try it by yourself.
Remember to keep the beat steady, and point to each beat.
Ready go.
Great work today reviewing all of our rhythms.
Remember you can download these cards from our website.
Thanks for watching. I'll see you next time.
